Flower Friday And Pawlympics

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your ebullient doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Our area has been officially declared a drought zone! We have very few flowers. The grass is all brown, and it's not from doggie pee. Ghostwriter refuses to waste water on the lawn, and is only watering the small sections of her flower garden that survived her absence when she was in the hospital two weeks ago.

There was a tiny, little baby birdie hiding in the clemetis vine. Do you see him?

Here's a hummingbird moth in the bee balm.

Can you see that evil squirrel hiding in Joey's pear tree? Grrrr! The pears were mostly small and scrawny because of the dry weather. But there are still a couple good ones. I'm doubling my surveillance now.

Crummy squirrels!

But the opening ceremonies for the Blogville Pawlympics is today! Hooray!

Here are some links to start the fun:

  1. Chester my peeps 200% agree with Ghostwriter about watering grass during this hot hotter and hottest weather. Thankfully our lawn is well established and it will come back. Water is to precious and EXPENSIVE (here)!! We have some potted flowering plants that is all that gets water. Your flowers are lovely!

I'm so excited about the Pawlympics...hugs Madi your kitty friend

  2. Those are some beautimous flowers Chester!!

  3. Chester, we're glad Joey dog came home and stay with his old siblings. :) :)

Yes, it's hot and humid here, too! Stay cool, our friend!

  4. My Lee says she is not giving up and waters our flowers every day. We have wonderful yellow finch birds that are eating the seeds from our cone flowers and hummingbirds on our trumpet vine. Chester L. W. Spaniel maybe the rains will come soon.

    1. Hello Sweet William The Scot! Welcome to The Daily Bone. The gold finches sure do like cone flower seeds around here too! We're still watering our few remaining flowers. We keep expecting rain, but it just passes over us! We get summers like this every few years.

  5. Chester, did you take those photos? They arrr pretty!

  15. We love, love, love your smile in the last photo, Chester! Our mom won't waste water on any flowers or grass either - only the flowers and grass at Mitch's resting place.

  16. We are in drought too...but its now officially busted...our gauge said 4 inches yesterday and we had more today. Yikes! At least now our grass looks nice again. But this will make the weeds get!

We see those moths on rare occasions. They look kind of scary!
