Um, hi

 Hi everyone. This is The (not so) Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and we're your doggie reporters Baby and Rosie Spaniel. 

Sorry we've been absent for so long. As you may remember, our Dad had  stroke a few weeks ago. He's trying to get better, but his left arm doesn't work at all, and his left leg only has a little movement. He's staying at a place called a nursing home where he gets physical therapy and lots of help with his daily activities. Our ghostwriter visits him every day while we courageous girls stay home and guard the house. 

We have had a few adventures, though. Yesterday we had our first encounter and subsequent epic battle with a stink bug.

The stink bug won.

A few days ago a little sparrow birdie got into the house, and we girls went crazy chasing it around. At one point it bumped into the window and fell down behind the couch. GW was able to catch it and let it go outside. 

Today we happened to see a lot of sparrow birdies hopping around in the bushes outside of the window. But they wouldn't come in to play.

It's been cold and rainy here a lot lately. Perfect conditions for mushrooms. 

When we look up, we've been seeing big flocks of geese flying over.

Bit of News

 Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and we're your ace doggie reporters Baby and Rosie Spaniel. 

We have not been to Blogville in a long time. But here's the update on Dad who had a stroke almost 2 weeks ago: 

He's all right. But his left arm and leg won't move. He's been transferred to the nursing home where ghostwriter used to work so he can get a lot of physical therapy. We're hoping he gets enough movement back so he can come home, but it's going to take a long time. 

In the meantime we doggies have been getting used to being home alone while out of our crates. In fact, we take this duty very seriously. While GW is away visiting dad for a couple hours, we pups are the Guardians of the House. 

GW told us maybe Baby Groot and his fellow Guardians of the Galaxy might stop by and give us a compliment on a job well done!

Troubles

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and we're your doggie reporters Baby and Rosie Spaniel. 

Sorry we haven't been around lately. There's a lot going on here. We had some great new photos to show you, but there's something wrong with our computer right now. 

Ghostwriter had to do something called jury duty one week, so we didn't have time to post then. 

On Monday morning Dad had to go to the hospital. (Our Uncle Jason came to stay with us doggies for a few hours so we wouldn't worry too much.) It turns out that Dad had something called a stroke, whatever that means. He's going to be away for some time in order to get his strength back. 

We doggies will try to be patient and hope for the best. 

Sun, Clouds, and Pretty Flowers

Hello friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and we're your diligent doggie reporters Baby and Rosie Spaniel. 

Western New York weather is nothing if not changeable! One day it's bright and sunny, and the next is cloudy and rainy. We can't even remember what day was what. A few days ago we enjoyed watching the bright sky with the "popcorn" clouds that came and went.

Ahhh! This is the life! 

But today, it was gray, dreary, and threatening to rain. After dinner, it suddenly started clearing up! 

Here comes the sun! Hooray! Ten minutes later … blah! No sunset for us! 

But all is not lost. We have some bright and cheerful white flowers and leaves to show you! This first flower is from a hosta plant that ghostwriter took from her mom's (Oma's) garden, almost forty years ago. 

We're not sure what these are called. Some kind of yarrow.

Here's some white phlox.

This is the star of our front yard right now: this huge hydrangea bush that started out as just a little stick one of the four siblings found at a flea market some 30+ years ago. 

The bees and wasps just love it, and it smells so sweet. 

These leaves are called snow-on-the-mountain, and were also transplanted from Oma's garden ages ago.

And finally, these are called lamb's ears because they're so fuzzy. 

We're cute and fuzzy too! Right?

It seems most of the plants in our yard are way older than we pups can even imagine! On that thought, we're going to sleep. Good night! 

Ghostwriter here. On those last rainy days, I finished a couple more puzzles. I love the pictures of the cute dogs! 

We had some unexpected sad news this week. One of our sweet kitty friends crossed the rainbow bridge.

Puzzling Behavior

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and we're your up-and-coming doggie reporters Rosie and Baby Spaniel. 

As you can see, we just had a visit with our groomer, Ms. Jacquie. We got everything buzzed down. You can actually see our faces now! (We'll go back to our classic cocker spaniel style in the Fall when the weather gets cooler.)

We'd like to tell you about our ghostwriter's puzzling behavior lately. In our last report, we showed a picture on a 1000 piece puzzle she put together. We thought that would be enough for now. But then she got a few more puzzles and proceeded to put them together too. Although this takes time away from playing with us doggies, we can't blame her for wanting to do these. They all have beautiful pictures of doggies, kitties, and birdies too.

OK. After finishing the last puzzle today, we thought she was finally through. But she went out and bought two more! 

Maybe it's a conspiracy!

We do have some other news to tell you, though. It's been raining almost every day for the last couple weeks. Some days, it rained all day. Other days, and nights too, it was just a brief shower and maybe a bit of thunder. One afternoon, we saw an awesome rainbow! 

 In response to these frequent deluges, our yard continues to host massive numbers of mushrooms!

We also have some pretty yellow flowers to show you.

You may remember that in our last report, we saw Mr. Bunny having a conference with Sparrows Inc. CEO Chip Chirpwell. It seems they reached an agreement. There are now daily conventions of sparrows visiting the birdie feeder, and singing praises to their CEO.

Chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp chirp! 

Today we saw Mr. Bunny taking his own fill of birdie seeds, while keeping this operative from the Evil Squirrel Cartel away. 

LOL BOL!

Moving on to our next subject, last weekend, we found a huge and curious looking insect. It was hanging onto a leaf under the pussy willow bushes. We doggies have never seen anything like it! But ghostwriter explained it was a cicada that was just finished shedding it's skin. 

We doggies were aghast about this! But ghostwriter then told us these insects are actually very common around here. In fact, they're the ones making that loud buzzy noise we've been hearing from the surrounding trees. 

Wonders never cease! 

GW here. Since I'm finally retired after 42 years of being a nurse, I decided to spend some time doing something I enjoyed a lot while growing up: making puzzles. This is a family predilection. My own mother loved nothing more than sitting at the table with everyone and putting together a beautiful puzzle! 

We're Still Here!

Greetings friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone, Princess Edition, and I'm your diligent doggie reporter Baby Spaniel. 

My (twisted) sister and fellow reporter Rosie Spaniel is busy practicing her doggie yoga.

I know we've been away for the last week. But it was not because of us doggies! Our ghostwriter has been obsessed with making a puzzle. 

I seriously don't know what is so great about spending an entire week putting 1000 little pieces of cardboard together, other then it finally made a nice picture of some doggies. I, however have not been remiss of my reporting duties. I remembered to look up, look down, and look around to find amazing things right in my own back yard. So without further ado here is my report:

The bunny returned and held a business meeting with Sparrows Incorporated CEO Chip Chirpwell and his assistants. 

I have no idea what they were discussing, but I can guess it was about the quality of the seeds from the birdie feeder, and perhaps the fact that a member of the Evil Squirrel Cartel keeps showing up, stealing seeds while chasing the sparrows away.

Here is a photo of the very last pink lily in the garden.

There are several other types of flowers blooming, though.

We've had some spectacular sunsets and moon rises lately.

I guess I'll be taking a few lessons in doggie yoga from Rosie.
