A Strange Thing Happened …

Good morning. This is The daily Bone and I'm your steady, strong , and healthy doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

A strange thing happened to me last night. I personally don't remember it, but ghostwriter says it looked like I had a seizure (whatever that it.) She said I got all stiff and shaky, but didn't fall asleep or anything. It was gone in a couple minutes, and I've been perfectly normal since then. I have never had anything like that before. Ghostwriter and Dad are wondering if I got bitten by a shrew. As you know, I've been doing a lot of shnoodling in the snow lately, and there are lots of shrews in my yard. Shrews have venomous saliva. But no one can find any bite marks on me.

So I had to go to the vet this morning and get all poked and prodded. I was due for some routine shots and blood tests anyway. Bleah! I am still perfectly fine! We decided we're just going to watch and see if it happens again. Oh, and I got lots of liver snacks there at the vet for my trouble!

Hiding under Dad's seat in the exam room.

So, enough about me! It's still cold cold cold out! 1ยบ right now, with the sun shining!
Check out the headlines from yesterday's paper! Wow!

Now for some sad news: according to the weather forecast, it's supposed to get warm and rain by the end of next week. All our wonderful snow will surely melt.

(Good!)

Well, it had to happen sooner or later. Hooray! Next comes mud season!

Meanwhile, as you can see, I'm still fine, and I'm back to work at my look-out post. My esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel is back at his food-watching post.

Perogies and steamed vegetables. Yum.

Still OK.

Hodge Podge

Hi everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie host Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Ghostwriter has been working a lot this month! She's been gone every weekend, and flips back and forth between day shift and evening shift. So today, she let me write The Daily Bone. As you know, when I actually write, I'm a bit impulsive and don't pay much attention to the story line. So here goes!

We found an old photo of the doggies who were here before there was ME! From left to right this is our patron saint Old Charisma, my esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel as a puppy, and the beautiful Miss Ginger. Ghostwriter says she really misses her girlie doggies. She would love to get a little girlie puppy right about now, but doesn't want to have to get up so early in the morning to put a puppy outside, especially after she's worked an evening shift. I say, have Dad do it! He's retired! He needs a new goal in life! Ghostwriter says, "shut up Chester, before you get me in trouble!"

Well, now of course we have to show you a few pictures of me running in the snow!

Our humans went out for lunch Wednesday to celebrate Joanna's birthday. Happy birthday Joanna!

Jason (sibling 4 of 4)  and Joanna (sibling 2 of 4)

Here are a few more snow pictures for our Australian friend Charlie.
They were sculpted entirely by the wind and sun!

The moon was out in the middle of the day today.

This is what it looks like tonight!

Wink wink, Princess.

Oh, and look at this video I found! Wow! I think these must be some of my cousins or something. They sure look like they might be related to me!

Holy Smokes!

This is a TDB News Flash. I'm your stunned doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Ghostwriter showed us some pictures of the roads yesterday. I thought I'd seen just about everything that had to do with snow this winter, but apparently I was wrong. Look at these big, giant snow banks along the side of the road. They're smoking!

What's more, our icicles, that were once long and mighty, are shrinking. Not melting, but shrinking!

Here's how these same icicles looked a week ago:

I was relieved to find out that the smoking snow wasn't actually smoking. The high wind was picking loose flakes up and blowing them around. And the icicles were literally evaporating. For you science geeks out there, this is called sublimation.

I took a look at the weather forecasts. It's supposed to get warm by Monday. Oh no! I'm not ready to lose all my wonderful snow yet! I'd better get out there and do some more snow shnoodling!

Psst. Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel here.

You know for a supposedly observant news reporter, my fustian colleague misses a lot. While he was shnoodling around in the snow, I was sitting patiently, and waiting for the yum yum treat that is required according to the Yum Yum Coalition Guide Book for doggies who plod through the cold snow for the purpose of photographs.

Yum yum? Did you say yum yum?

Harumph!

To conclude today's report, here is what I saw when I looked out the window a few minutes ago:

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

New Winter Olympic Sport!

Good morning. This is your intrepid doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel and this is The Daily Bone.

As you can see, it's still cold and snowy here. The temperature is a balmy 19ยบ with high gusting winds. It's bright and sunny too. My esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel likes to just sit in the sun with his eyes closed.

But now, without further ado, here are pictures of me practicing my new winter sport: snow shnoodling!

Joey dog here. I hope he remembers to come up for air!
