The Infamous Second Shot

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your diligent doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

… so, this happened …

This was last Thursday, my ghostwriter's day off. She had to drive to work anyway, through this beautiful WNY snow squall, just to get her second Covid-19 shot.

But she wasn't too worried! After all, she didn't have any side effects from her first shot, other than a sore arm for a few days.

She felt OK for a few hours after that second shot, so she went out shopping for groceries.

It was all down-hill after that.

I'm tempted to say, "sick as a dog," but that expression is no longer politically correct. Anyway, she had a fever, chills, all over aches and pain, and fatigue. She couldn't go to work Friday because she could hardly get out of bed.

But don't worry. After 24 hours, she was all better and went to work Saturday. And now she's immune to that evil virus!

All's well that ends well.

Time for snow zoomies!

But seriously …

Just so you know, all the nursing home patients got their second shots Thursday too. Ghostwriter says that none of them, including our Oma, had any bad side effects other than a bit of tiredness.

DO NOT let this deter you from getting your Covid-19 immunizations if it's available for you.

Blogger Question

This is a question for my blogger friends on blogspot.

Have you ever had Google Domains tell you to pay for your blog domain? Besides The Daily Bone, I've been working on some short stories on blogspot for the past several months, which I have not published yet. Now Google is telling me they were unable to update them. In order to update them, they say I have to pay a fee for the domain, or else they'll delete it. I have the text saved on my writing programs in my computer, so I don't care if they delete these. I have never seen anything like that of The Daily Bone. By the way, I have not had The Daily Bone updated either. I thought it would happen automatically, and it never did. Or did I miss something?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Magic Memories

Greetings everyone! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

We finally have some snow! It started Monday night after my ghostwriter had to work until 3am. She couldn't drive more than 30mph because of the icy roads and white-out conditions. Last night she only had to work until 9pm, but it snowed again, and she had to creep along, maybe hitting 40mph. She wonders, why is it that every time she drives anywhere on a snowy night, there's always some idiot in a pick-up truck tailgating with his high beams on? That's just rude!

Well, that's all we have to say about that. So now, I'll get onto the main subject of today's report.

As loyal long-time readers know, my ghostwriter is a nurse who works at a nursing home on evening shift. Many of her patients have different types of dementia. People with Alzheimer's disease lose their short term memory, but can still remember things from their lives in the past. They also sometimes get really agitated and confused in the evening, something that's called "Sundowner Syndrome." GW found that if she takes a little time, sits down with the confused person, and shows pictures of doggies and kitties, they start to remember all the good times they had with their own pets. This can usually make the person calm down and relax. One lady absolutely adores Westies. Another has happy memories of her childhood friend, Laddy the Collie. One other lady remembers her German shepherd named Flip. Several others just love doggies or kitties in general. Almost everyone can come up with some wonderful story about their childhood pets. Even people who have lost their ability to communicate, will still smile at funny pictures of me and my friends. (Don't worry. She only shows the pictures, and not any other information.) We just wanted our blogger friends know that some of their pet photos have made a lot of people very happy. Please keep those pictures coming!

Happy memories are something everyone needs to keep them going through these difficult times.

Hey, what's that?

Wow!

Hi!

Greetings friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

We hope that you are enjoying the beginning of the new year. I have a few stories today, so I'll start right in.

The Evil Squirrel Cartel Strikes Again!

One of my ghostwriter's coworker's husband was doing some work in his garage. All of a sudden, a squirrel dropped onto his shoulder. He was so surprised that he tripped and fell over. Unfortunately, his hand hit the blade of an axe , and he sustained a large, deep cut that needed stitches. He's OK now, but plans to get some traps for those twitchy miscreants.

We actually haven't seen many squirrels in our yard lately. Either they're hibernating somewhere, or else they grabbed a ride to another location. As a reminder, this truck is available every Monday morning for squirrels on the move!

The Virus Strikes Again

At the nursing home where my ghostwriter works, and our Oma lives, one employee tested positive for that rotten covid virus. Now the entire facility is on lock down again. That happened the same day everyone got their covid immunizations. We're very hopeful that we'll soon beat this menace and things can finally go back to normal!

The Snow Situation

Here in WNY we still haven't had a big snow fall. Here's a picture of me from yesterday morning. We got a dusting that soon melted in the sun.

By the way, this is the only bit of sunshine we've seen in weeks, and it only lasted long enough to melt the snow!

My ghostwriter says no snow is all right with her, because she won't have to deal with this …

…and this …

… and this …

… and this …

… and this …

Nope. She doesn't miss the snow in the least! She also hopes she didn't jinx it by saying that.

I suppose I don't miss it either. But I remember when it was great fun!
