Days With Dad

Hi. Chester L. W. Stephens here with The Daily Bone.

My ghost writer has been working a lot of long hours at the nursing home this week, so my esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel and I spend a lot of time home with Dad. He likes to watch the news, and putter around in the garage, and sometimes is fond of using scary noisy machines, like the lawn mower, the power drill, the shop vac, and the power saw. There is a gigantic new machine he just put together that is supposed to make mulch out of all those sticks on top of the compost pile. We doggies are sure it will be very noisy. With a name like "The Beast," I didn't even what to go near it.

No way Jose!
But Joey dog, who will do almost anything for a yum yum Milkbone Marro Treat, agreed to pose for pictures with it.

What a good little sales doggie! I'm pretty sure he will be cowering under the bed along with me as soon as The Beast is turned on!

It's quiet around here this morning, thank goodness. So I thought I'd show some pictures of the nice flowers in our yard.

Iris and allium
Chives
Another iris
Woodfuff and mint
Columbine
Now check out this amazing video of a cocker spaniel police dog at work. Wow! We are simply gob smacked! (Yes we know a few British phrases!) What an astonishing and talented doggie!

We're thrilled to meet you Diesel!

    1. Don't worry. The Beast wasn't turned on. If it was there'd be no way Joey would have sat near it no matter how many yum yums he was offered! He hates scary noisy machines more that me!

  5. Nice to meet you! Charlie sent us over! Yeah, my daddy likes to use big and loud equipment and sometimes he cusses big and loud when they don't do what he wants. My momma was ooohing over the flowers. My dad is fire up the lawn tractor this weekend. What noisy thing is your daddy going to use?

    1. Hi Buddy! Great to meet you! Joey and I enjoyed your blog, especially the snow pictures. We had a lot of snow adventures this year too. Just click on the winter months in TDB and you'll see us running and jumping and playing in the wonderful snow and sliding on the ice! Today Dad mowed the lawn and did some squirrel nest bashing, then he went back inside to watch the news like usual. Mom pulled weeds and says she's going to make the garden smaller because it's getting too hard on her hands to dig and pull. We'd offer to help, but we don't know a weed from a flower. We pee on them all equally like good doggies.

  7. Crikey ... that video!!! You cockers are pretty smart dogs, aye, but you sure got some VERY weird toilet habits. Do you do that to Joey, Chester?? Very pretty flowers but who knew chives got flowers on them? Blimey .... I'd be leaving town when your Dad starts that beast thing up.

    1. I have to confess I've peed on my esteemed colleague Joey dog a couple times, but got into some big trouble from my humans for it. Apparently that's not an acceptable thing to do in their world. Don't worry, we plan to be in the house hiding under the bed when Dad starts that big beast thing!
