Winter Moon

Greetings friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone and I am your amiable doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

As you can see, it's sunny and all my wonderful snow has melted again. It's supposed to warm up more tomorrow, and then get cold and snowy again. I wish this weather would make up it's mind!

I have a very good story to tell you today. I just met a new kitty cat cousin named Winter Moon. He was adopted from a shelter by our good friend Pat in PA.

Winter Moon

Pat had a kitty cat named Tricky for a very long time until he had to go across the Rainbow Bridge. That was so heartbreaking that Pat decided she would never own a pet again. But Pat's daughter Deb sent her some pictures of a couple kitties who were up for adoption at a local pet store. Pat saw Winter and thought she might consider fostering him for a while. She contacted the person who was fostering Winter at the time just to get a little information about him. She was told Winter wasn't very happy because he was afraid of the two doggies that lived there, and spent most of the time hiding behind the couch. She was also told Winter had some kind of heart problem, so that nobody else wanted him. Pat decided then and there she would take him. When she brought him home, he explored the house and then took a nap on her bed, and has been sleeping there ever since. When she took Winter to the vet, she was told that Winter was probably about five years old, and that there was no heart condition after all.

Here's a link to the shelter Winter Moon came from:

Wow! I have five kitty cat cousins now! Imagine that!

Speaking of the moon in winter, in one week there will be a full moon. It will also be considered a blue moon, because it's the second full moon in the month of January. There will also be a lunar eclipse. I sure hope this crazy weather cooperates so we can watch it!

But in the meantime, here's an article I found about it:

  1. We are so happy for Winter and thrilled that he has his very own comfy bed to sleep in without any doggie threats!

  2. What a great story about your new kitty cousin. We will keep our eyes to the sky and hope for a clear one on the 31st.

  3. Winter Moon what a gorgeous name for such a handsome and most of all very very very x 87

  4. Our weather is crazy too, Chester. Warm yesterday, not so bad today temp-wise but ghastly winds. Cold weather returning in a few days, but no sign of our snow:(

Winter Moon is very handsome, and we think it was just meant to be that he came to be with your friend Pat - nice to find such a great forever home.

  6. What a happy story about Winter! Woot - forever home for a perfect pair. Tricky sent Winter to exactly the right place.

    Love and licks,

  7. A blue moon? Well, they do say the moon is made of cheese, so perhaps this time it's made of blue cheese??

Love your new kitty cousin. She looks very pretty.

  8. That's cool about Winter and has a great home too!!
and....our weather cant make up its mind either!!!

  9. I think I have a kitty cousin or two living with my mommy's nephew. But we'll never meet, oh no!! BOL. That's a furry touching story about Winter Moon, though, and I'm glad he's found a loving mommy!

  10. We have only met a kitty in pawson one time, when we were still very young. Since that time we have met many of them either through fences or from a distance. Mom said we are not very good kitty pals.

  11. It sure has been crazy weather lately!! Today it was pretty warm...relatively speaking...and then we are back to the teens and back up to the fifties again! No wonder everyone is getting sick!! We had five cats that lived next door to us and they used to spend a lot of time in our yard so we got kind of used to seeing them...but we never got close enough to play with them or anything!

  12. Hello Winter Moon! That's a gorgeous name! Chester, it's really nice to have five kitty cousins! We have zero~~!

  13. Wow! That is a lot of Kitty Kousins! Thanks for the heads up about the moon. We will be watching.

  14. Hooray for Winter Moon!

We had too many clouds to see that lunar event...sigh...
