Tons of Snow on Saturday

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your reputable doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

As predicted, we got a ton of snow. Dad measured 10-12 inches in our yard. Check it out! It's up to my chest! I was a little nervous about going out into it.

Dad didn't have any problems, though. He stomped right out the door and got the roaring dragon scary noisy snow blower machine monster thing started.

Whoosh!

It made short work of all that snow and pretty soon the driveway was cleared.

Did I say it was very noisy?

The little birdies were very hungry today. See them all lined up on the back of the glider?

They took turns flying back and forth to the feeder.

We had to fill up the window feeder twice!

Sometimes they'd sit in the pear tree to wait their turn. See the little chickadee on the left?

I still haven't seen that cowbird!

But his friend the starling showed up this afternoon for a snack.

Hi.

Nope. I haven't seen that dude in a week!

Hmmmm. Are you sure you haven't seen him?

Nope! He's gone, man! But hey, I'm here!

What am I? Chopped liver?

  3. We think we have you beat in the snow total. Ours is more like 18" deep. Almost too deep for good snow zoomies even for us.

  5. Ours is very deep too Chester! We got about 17 inches. Dad had that snowblower thing going full blast at our house too! We don't like the noise at ALL. But, it is the only way that we can go outside! :) And...it is FRIGID again tonight...minus 11!

  6. You are so lucky, Chester! Look at all of that beautiful snow! My fenced in yard doesn't have any more snow in it - not even one little drop.

  7. And we thought our 4 inches was bad...you sure have lots of that white stuff. Good thing your Dad has a snow thrower...yup, they sure are noisy! We have not seen pawppy use ours yet this season...and we are not too sad, BOL! Our birds are gobbling food about as fast as it gets put in the feeders. We have wrens and they devour mealworms like there is no tomorrow! Sunflower seeds?? 20 pounds gone in a few days. Finch seed? A bit slower, BOL! Peanuts and suet are vigorously pecked at too.

Stay safe our there, Chester! And warm!

  8. All our snow melted (well at least a foot of it) and very little came back. Stay cozy.

  9. WOW, C. That is a LOT of snow. I do not allow snow to touch my belly, so I think you are very brave to go out there when the snow was so high. I think your parents are nice to take such good care of the birds. Stay warm, buddy.
