Ready For The Storm

Greetings friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your trustworthy doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Yup! That's me in the bathtub! It's a good thing I like to play in the water. The reason for this impromptu bath is because the back yard was like a swamp today! All the snow melted last night and it rained almost all night too. What a mess! I got mud all over my feet and splashed on my belly too.

In the meantime, we're aware that it's Flower Friday. However, there are absolutely NO flowers blooming in our yard at this time. Not even a dandelion. But, ghostwriter thought up a solution to this problem. Here's a big flower picture she embroidered many years ago.

We're all ready for that big storm that's coming our way! Ghostwriter went shopping twice. The second time was because she forgot something. But now we're all stocked up.

Uh oh!

In other news, I found another stink bug. With all the weather changes, these pesky, malodorous insects are totally confused, and coming out of their hiding places thinking spring has arrived.

Yes, it's a stink bug.

No epic battle today! I finally learned that stink bugs are called that for a reason! Ghostwriter tossed it out the door.

No. I'm not messing with it. Too stinky!

Well, it's now 6:30pm and it sounds like the rain is turning to ice. The Rochester local news reported that the City and towns are getting ready for the snowfall tonight.

But that's OK. Ghostwriter made a big pot of soup for dinner.

Yum! Escarole soup with sausage, gnocci, and white beans, with fresh bread and butter on the side. Of course I got to try some!

We're just going to sit and relax and wait for the snow now.

I'll be sure to report on our snowfall tomorrow. Hope you're all safe and warm, wherever you are!

  2. It sure sounds like what we got yesterday is at your place now. Rain, then freezing rain, then ice, and finally just a smidge of snow. It sure made for slippery conditions.

    Stay safe and warm.

  6. We had that wack-a-doodle weather here too.Wednesday it was 56F, after a upper 40's day on Tuesday. Yesterday, more of the same. All the snow was gone, and the yard was soggy...petcretary went hunting for buried treasures, even though she had cleaned up a lot each day...anypaws, over night from Thursday to Friday it got a lot colder and then we had freezing rain...followed here by about 4 inches of snow. It was a slippery drive to her work....and worse on the way home cause then it was dark. And the temp is about 10F with a way colder wind chill Brrr! There were lots of traffic issues around here on Friday morning... And the bird feeders had to be un-iced so the birds could get to the food.

    Enjoy your snow Chester!

  7. The flower embroidery is gorgeous and that soup looks so yummy! We have temps in the 50's and it's warmer here right now than it is in the south but the wind is picking up and we know those temps are going to drop like a rocket. Stay safe, Chester!

  8. We were so happy to wake up and see the mud gone and a foot of snow in our yard. It has made for some great fun snow zoomies! That embroidery is beautiful! It must have taken your mom a lot of time to complete.
