Strange Bird

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I’m your observant doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I did bit of birdie watching today. We have a window feeder that has one-way mirrors inside, so that we can see the birdies, but they can’t see us. Over the years I have learned not to bark at the nice birdies who visit the feeder. I think that's quite an accomplishment for a birdie hunting doggie like me!

At different times of the year, we see different types of birdies. In winter we get juncos, starlings, the occasional downy woodpecker, and house sparrows. Spring brings mourning doves, grackles, and house sparrows. In summer we get purple finches, gold finches, and house sparrows. In Fall there are cardinals and house sparrows.

As a matter of fact, here’s a house sparrow right now!

Every year about this time, we see blue jays. They hang around for a couple weeks then move on.

Flocks of Canada Geese fly over daily.

I've gotten pretty good at identifying all the birdies in our area. However, there was a very strange birdie that flew over our house this morning. It made quite a racket. If you happen to know what it is, please let me know. Thanks.

  6. That is a huge bird eating zombie. You better move to a safer spot. If the wings don't shred you the winds it generates will blow you off the ground.

That is a neato bird feeder!

    1. As a matter of fact, I am a very birdie catcher! One year I caught eight birdies! Now I know to leave the birdies alone. But squirrels are another story!

  8. Chester, you are very good not to bark at the feeding birdies - we might not be so good:( And that last bird is one we see a lot here - mom says they are traffic reporters, but we think that is a strange job for a bird.
