Something We All Agree On

Good evening ladies and gentlemen and doggies and kitties too. This is The Daily Bone Yum Yum Food Column. I’m your culinary doggie host Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel, Doggie Chief Inspector, comestibles division, and founder of the Yum Yum Coalition.

It seems to me that my pompous colleague Chester L. W. Spaniel has been hogging up the lime light with his political campaign, without taking time to honor the one thing in life that everyone agrees upon: food! So here is a review of some recent meals our humans have been cooking and eating. As Doggie Chief Inspector, I get to sample everything that is safe for doggies to eat and decide if it’s good or not. (To tell you the truth, there’s not much I do not like!)

Monday, we had an alien invasion. A big truck backed right into our driveway. The driver got out and rang our doorbell, which sent us doggies into our usual defensive barking mode. Our humans jumped up and ran out into the garage, totally ignoring our insistent barking and howling. While we doggies had to remain in the house—how rude!—they then opened the big front garage door, and confronted the alien all by themselves. We were so worried!

However, everything turned out all right, when we found out what the alien space truck was delivering: ice cream. Pictured here is Raspberry Rumble: vanilla ice cream with raspberry swirl,  raspberry filled truffles, and raspberry coated crunchy clusters. I got a big spoonful (minus the chocolates) and got to lick the bowl too! Heavenly!

Our ghostwriter is still experimenting with Indian food. Here's a dish that looked pretty elegant and delicious: bhindi masala, basmati rice and fresh tomatoes, with shahi jamun for dessert. The yellow square things are made out of chickpeas, and are called khaman. They looked good, but tasted terrible! I was not crazy about the okra either.

Fortunately, Dad cooked a delicious supper later that day: spanakopita, grilled pork chops marinated in State Fair Spedie sauce, with fresh tomatoes. Now that’s much better!

Here we have a lovely plate of Chinese take-out food: fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce for dipping, shrimp toast, and crab rangoon. Yum!

This is Mom’s favorite summer-time treat: corn on the cob! Slather on the butter, and pass the salt!

But both Chester and I agree, our delicious healthy weight management crunchy meatballs yum yum delicious doggie food is the best!

Hey! Who are you calling pompous?
