No Sleep On Sunday

Hello friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your tired doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Our crazy ghostwriter worked a double shift last night. She was lucky one of the day shift nurses came in early so she could go home at 5AM. When she limped out the back door of the nursing home, she was surprised to hear the robins were all singing even though it was still dark out. When she got home, the Stodgy Robin Society of Eagle Ridge South members were singing loudly in practically every tree! The moon was still out too. By 5:45AM, the cardinals started singing too, followed by the chickadees, some screeching grackles, a crow, and then the house finches and sparrows. She should have just gone straight to bed as soon as she got home. But instead she stood outside and listened to the birdie concert!

Just when she finally got to sleep around 8AM, a neighbor started mowing the lawn! Who mows their lawn on Sunday morning?

But what's this?

Not to be outdone, Dad got out his own roaring dragon noisy machine scary monster grass slice and dice thing! We doggies went in when Dad fired that up! And still no sleep for ghostwriter!

She tried to take a nap later, but she said I was barking too much. Well, it's my job to scare the Evil Squirrel Cartel away! As the primary member of the Double Doggie Homeland Security System, since my aged associate Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel is semi-retired, I have to work extra hard to protect and warn the humans every time the neighbor kids go by on their big wheelie bikes, or a car door slams somewhere, or people go walking by with their doggies, etc.

I am NOT aged!

It's now after 9:30PM. The neighbors are all inside their houses. The birdies are all quiet. We doggies are sleeping too. Ghostwriter is drinking a glass of wine.

Go to bed already!

  4. Bottoms up!! With the wine that is, BOL!! Sleep well, because in the morning all the noises will resume...doesn't growlmy remember her days of night duty...

We saw a lot of lawns being shaved today, too...but growlmy did mine yesterday when all the world as I know it was awake. Her fitbit said she walked 7.5 miles during that mowing time...pawppy get a riding mower will ya! I need growlmy to not collapse! (Though she often goes for a stroll of 4 - 5 miles and at her job it might be up to just ob=ver 4...sigh...
(In case you are wondering, pawppy was working overtime and he put in about 10 hours at his home office desk...at least he was doing it by tele=commuting. So growlmy mowed and enjoyed the cool fresh air while he slaved away at some traffic or bridge problems...meh...)

  7. Wow, I would love that birdie concert too! They surely do sing a bunch of pretty songs...I like the finches the bestest. Gosh, sounds like a noisy neighborhood. I always try to bash the grass-cutter-upper. I hope everyone finally had a good snooze.
