Late July

Greetings friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your dedicated doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Here in Western NY it's been very hot and dry.  But we still have some flowers blooming to show you.

We've also had some spectacular sunsets!

The bunny has been coming to visit us every evening around 8:30pm. He's gotten so that he's hardly afraid of me anymore.

"Hi Chester. Nice evening, isn't it?"

For my last story, long time readers will remember my old pal Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel. He crossed the bridge this time of year in 2016. Our princess, Miss Ginger also passed in July of 2010. This is sort of a sad time of year for us. Please check out the link below to see a collection of pictures of Joey, and a few of Ginger, and even two with our patron saint, Old Charisma.

There Was a Bunny

Good evening. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your sneaky doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. Be very, very quiet. There's a bunny in my yard eating birdie seeds that the birdies dropped on the ground.

It just sat very still and stared at me.

I slowly inched closer.

Then, all of a sudden, zoom! I gave it a good chase. But I'm not as fast as I used to be.

Here's a picture from several years ago, when I could still catch bunnies:

Wow! We could have this one for dinner!

In fact, I was a very proficient bunny hunter. Once, I caught three of them!

Look Mom! I caught the bunnies for YOU!

Yes, those were the days!

I'm sure the bunny will be back tomorrow, and I'll give him another good chase.

Too Confusing!

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your befuddled doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

As I said in my last two posts, my humans have been watching all the Marvel superhero movies in order. I tried to follow the stories too. But now I'm totally confused. It seems my doggie mind has no comprehension of time travel, and multiple universes. So I guess I'll just stick with enjoying our time right now, and the beautiful things right here in my universe.

But that Loki guy is pretty cool.

Good night.

Mr. Blue Sky

Hello again everybody! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your sun-dappled doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

We have yet another hot, sunny July day. The sky is extra, super blue!

Amazing!

If you read my report from yesterday, you know my ghostwriter and Dad have been watching all of the Marvel movies in order, according to a list. Ghostwriter says her favorites so far are "The Guardians of the Galaxy." (You'd also know that my all time favorite superhero is Ironing Board Man.)

Well, anyway, here's a video that will give you an idea of what the Guardian movies are like. Plus it has music that is very appropriate for this glorious blue sky!

Wow! It's July!

Greetings friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your cheerful doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

It's been great having my ghostwriter only working two days a week. She says now she can finally do some more cooking, get projects in the house done started, work on the garden, and spend more time with yours truly. On the really hot days, she and Dad watch a movie on TV. They found a list of how to watch all the Marvel movies in the correct order (link below.) That's OK with me!

As long time readers would know, I've always been a fan of Ironing Board Man. Here are some of my favorite pictures of him:

Is it movie time now?

It's Summer!

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I'm reporting from inside the house because it's really hot outside today. With the wind blowing the 90º heat around, it feels like I'm standing in front of a hair dryer! No thank you!

First I want to say, yes we're still here! My ghostwriter has been very busy with her job, and with the gardening and so hasn't had a lot of time on her computer. But there are a lot of things we have to show you from the past week or so. I'll start with the critters.

Here's the big, brave bunny who has been visiting the yard in broad daylight to eat seeds that the birdies drop from the feeders. I wonder if he's also been after the good stuff in the compost pile, and the pears growing on the pear tree.

Then there are squirrels and a little striped chipmunk too!

I especially hate chipmunks because they always get me in trouble. Instead of running straight up the nearest tree, like the squirrels do, chipmunks go sneaking through the plants and bushes in the garden. I try to follow their stinky footprints and end up stomping on ghostwriter's flowers. Yesterday, I chased one up the drainpipe! I barked and barked at it, but it wouldn't come out! It just stayed in there chirping and scuttling in the pipe with his scratchy little feet! I had to be dragged away from it or else I would have barked all day long and flattened all of the flowers around it! Harumph! At the end of this post, there are a couple links to some of my chipmunk problems stories

Besides the furry visitors, there have been all kinds of birdies, including this colorful blue jay.

The irises are all finished blooming. Here are the very last ones:

Now it's time for daisies, milkweed, roses, clemetis, and even foxglove.

On the 15th, we watched a big storm come rolling through WNY. Although we didn't get any rain, some areas to the south and west of us got blasted with high winds, heavy rain, and even a tornado watch. We did, however, get an amazing sunset as we watched the storm clouds pass us.

After dark, we saw some lightning flash purple through the clouds to the south.

Nope. I'm not scared of thunder and lightning, and storms in general. Are you?

We hope you have a great first day of summer!

Oh, and my ghostwriter has been saying something about retiring this summer. I'm not sure what that means, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with putting new tires on the cars. Do any of you know?
