Good evening. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your sneaky doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. Be very, very quiet. There's a bunny in my yard eating birdie seeds that the birdies dropped on the ground.
It just sat very still and stared at me.
I slowly inched closer.
Then, all of a sudden, zoom! I gave it a good chase. But I'm not as fast as I used to be.
Here's a picture from several years ago, when I could still catch bunnies:
Wow! We could have this one for dinner! |
In fact, I was a very proficient bunny hunter. Once, I caught three of them!
Look Mom! I caught the bunnies for YOU! |
Yes, those were the days!
I'm sure the bunny will be back tomorrow, and I'll give him another good chase.
MrJackFreckles caught a few bunnies, too...we have seen a lot,, but so far no luck...and we are fast.
ReplyDeleteMostly they are outside the fence...sheesh!!
Stalking them is half the fun, though, right??!
You were a great bunny hunter when you were a wee bit younger, Chester!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't catch that bunny. We hope it doesn't eat any of your mom's pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteBOL BOL Chester I hear ya good buddy. At least you have those wonderful past pictures in your mind's eye. I must say you are still an excellent stalker though
ReplyDeleteHugs Cecilia
I has actually not caught a bunny. I give em da chasey though.
ReplyDeleteChester , my beauty, it happens to all of us. As long as they run, we did our jobs.
ReplyDeleteWell that bouquet of bunnies was a beauty. But sometimes the chase is as much fun as the catch.

Cupcake
Dearest Chester, I understand the disappointment of not being as fast and therefore as amazing a hunter as you use to be. I am envious of your catching 3 bunnies. I never caught a bunny. Lee (and Phod who has caught a couple things but doesn't get dead-ing them, he wants to keep them as pets)
ReplyDeleteGood job!! We think it's the chase that counts anyway, Chester.

Rosy, Sunny & Jakey
Sometimes the memories are just as good as the real thing and a lot less tiring, Chester:)

I'b neber seen a bunny. I wonder what you do wif dem when you catch dem! But mommy says I don't want to know.
ReplyDeleteChester would always bring his catch to me so I can admire his hunting skills.
DeleteOnce upon a time there were Rainbow Bridge bunnies ... when woofers lived with us we said farewell to quite a few. Now they are chased in your dreams, where you always catch them, right?
ReplyDeleteWoW! Chester, our hairy slobbery sister says she is your number one fan! We don't have bunnies, we have marmots and gophers and skunks and Cinnamon likes to chase them, but she has NEVER EVER caught one. We are glad about her NOT catching the skunks...one sprayed the before hairy slobbery sisters Bob and Sam and they had to have a bath with Tomato Juice! Keep up the good work Chester! Purrs Marv
ReplyDeleteHi Chester,
ReplyDeleteI am super impressed by your bunny hunting record, one I can only dream of emulating as a grow bigger and stronger.
Toodle-oo!
Nobby.
Whoa Chester! You are the hunter!! xo
