Howl-o-ween Blues

Hi there everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your distracted doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

So this is Halloween: stuck in ghostwriter's office barking my fool head off. Don't worry. I'm not all alone. Ghostwriter's in here to keep me company, although I know she would rather be someplace quieter. Dad is handling all the ghosts and goblins that come to my door and ring the doorbell, with the help of my spindly associate Bones Daily. (This is the only time Bones actually works. The rest of the year he just hangs around watching over Dad's workshop.)

But today wasn't all bad. Earlier I went to a wonderful party at my good friends Murphy and Stanley's house, where all of us Blogville boy doggies dressed up for a parade. If you want to see all the fun, please check out this link:

Since I was dressed as a skeleton, I got to preside over the bone yard.

Meanwhile, all the Blogville ladies went to Oreo's house for their own Halloween parade and fun. Please visit them here:

My dearest Princess Leah was devilishly beautiful!

My humans Jessy and Dan spent the weekend at Universal Studios in Orlando as part of their Halloween/late honeymoon celebration. Here they are hanging out with Beetlejuice!

In other news, we've had some crazy weather around here in Western New York! It's been super windy and raining. In the backyard, the Gnome Syndicate took on heavy casualties when the rose trellis blew over.

Oh, and remember that little birdie that got stuck in my garage a few days ago? Well, another little birdie flew into my Ryan's house too! Do you see the birdie sitting on the window sill? Fortunately this birdie was able to get out and fly away.

Anyway, so here I am still. Staring at the door while mayhem proceeds without stop downstairs.

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE

It is now after 10PM and trick-or-treats is officially over. Wow! I'm going to sleep good tonight!

It wouldn't be a proper Halloween if ghostwriter didn't watch her favorite scary video by one of her favorite Finnish heavy metal groups, Finntroll. (Warning: contains scary monsters and creepy weird stuff and really loud  music. Not for little kiddies or anyone who is of faint heart.) We like the little mummy guys.

Good night!

  1. I am sorry you did not get to see the trick or treaters but you were protecting our mom from the ghosts and gobling and that is very important. I am glad you had fun at the Blogville party

  2. You need to come here, Chester...we had zero doorbell ringers! That is how its been around here for many ears...quiet, blissfully so on a night when we would be going zany with all the hoopla...

I hope all your garden gnomes survived their tumbling experiences.

Off to check out the pawrty! I and Dalton were preoccupied with company, so we furgot all about it, BOL!

  4. We didn't have any trick or treaters this year, Chester. Mom says that was just fine with her. That Beetlejuice guy gives me the creeps!

  5. Happy Halloween Chester. If you want a quieter evening you can come to our house where we never get any trick or treaters. Something about living at the end of a very long, dark driveway.

  6. Sorry you didn't get to participate. We love greeting the kids, but we are exhausted today.

  7. I think you're lucky to be able to bark and have all that trick or treating excitement at your house, C. We had a ton of candy and the required ribbon on the door of our new apartment to indicate that we were open for ghosts and goblins. But NUTHIN' - Not one trick or treater came. What to do with all that candy.....?

    Love and licks,

  8. It was a lot of fun last night wasn't it. We only get a few trick or treaters cause we live just out of town. It is only the grandkids that come

  9. We are sorry you got locked up, Chester. But maybe Ghostwriter was afraid those goblins might try to steal her new knee and she needed you to protect her.

We had a lot of fun at the parade too. Great to see you there.

  10. We are glad you had GW to keep you company! We greeted the trick or treaters from behind the Great Front Door Fence with Daddy while Mama stayed on the couch with Miss Rosy Sassy Pants!

Mama says thanks for the cool video, she is a closet head banger!
    xoxo,

  11. Chester I hear you good buddy...there is nothing like a continuous ring of a door bell to get one all worked up and excited and make one wonder just who is there and did they bring you something good that you can't get too. Barking x 87 surely made you tired.
Your princess looked quite regal in purple
    Hugs madi your bfff

  12. We turned off the lights and watched the World Series! Our neighborhood is crazy with trick or treaters. I mean hundreds and hundreds of kids come through. We used to go all out but we haven't participated in the last few years. Bentley and Pierre are VERY thankful.

  13. We celebrated something else on Halloween: Brom came home!! Mara had gotten some chocolates to give out to any children coming to our door, but unfortunately Mara was forced to eat it all herself, since nobody came!

    Miss Oswin from Norway

    PS: how's the ghostwriter?

  14. Happy belated Halloween!! So sorry... we're so behind!

Glad to see you had a pawtastic time with our doggie friends!

We kinda greeted to the kids first and after many many kids lined up at our door, we retired. Over all, it was good and we're sure yours was good, too! :)

  15. Woof, Chester, we're even more late than Momo and Pino! We only had a pawful of Trick-or-Treaters at our door. We don't bark at them, we just try to sniff them and get pets! But mostly we watched baseball on TV with daddy, BOL!
Did you get a haircut? Stay warm!!
