Fall Came Thundering In

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

It has been a very warm, summery Fall this year so far. But as you might know, here in Western New York, if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute! Yesterday it was 80º and sunny all day. But then in the late afternoon, it suddenly got dark. Ghostwriter had just come in from walking around the yard a little (with her crutches, of course.) As soon as she got in the door, a big storm came whipping through. She tried to close the screen on the door, but got soaking wet within a couple seconds! It looked like a hurricane for a while!

We checked the weather charts and saw this:

A big cold front had moved in from the west across the Great Lakes and blasted over our area.

Since then it's been cold out. There's supposed to be a frost tonight.

Fortunately, my favorite miniature human Ryan had a lot of fun before the weather changed. He went to his first ever autocross. (His Dad used to drive in these.)

When he went home, he built an autocross course right in his own driveway!

He also went out to get his Halloween pumpkins.

Today it was very quiet here. Ghostwriter spent a lot of time resting her knee. She says her whole left leg feels like the muscles were put through a blender and then run over by a truck! A physical therapy person came to see her and show her how to do some more exercises and stretches to help her knee heal properly. She told her she would have to relearn how to walk properly after limping around on her gimpy knee for so long!

Hey, wait a minute! This is the second time some strangers came to my house now! Dad took me outside to play in the yard during those times, so I didn't get to bark at them!

But later, Dad grilled some lamb chops, and I got to try some. So all was not lost!

  1. We had the same weather here. Suddenly it got cold. Ryan looks like he is having a blast.

  2. Wells, except for the torrential rains ( I don't likes to gets my furs wet, remembers..☺) I would loooooves to trade places! It was 87 today!!! sigh. Butts, no smoke, so can't complain too much! Nows, your shrunken human looks like he's gonna be a champ! Nice course he built.
Sweet dreams my pal...and lots and lots of POTP to your Moms...and, um, is there any of those pork chops left for a starving AireChick???
    Ruby ♥

  3. That front came through Michigan too...on Sunday early morning. Pawppy was going to go to church, but he stayed home cause he did not want to get blown off the highway...
And the rain we had prior to that was awful...petcretary emptied about 5 inches from one day's rain alone, now there is three more in there. But now its nice and clear and chilly, but no frost in our forecast yet...just in the low 40's.

    Stay safe, dry and warm!
And tell ghostwriter to be carefur on those crutches. In-Home PT sounds wonderfur!

    1. Almost all of our weather in WNY comes in from the west. It crosses the Great Lakes and picks up even more rain or snow. Mostly this gets dumped on Buffalo, but some makes its way to the Rochester area. This storm had lots of high wind for us, but the heavy rain only lasted a short time. It's sunny and frosty this morning.

  4. Dearest Chester, I have had playtime with Ophelia the Hurricane over here as well so I nose what a horrid storm you must have had! Glad to hear Ghostwriter is up and about, I do hope her knee isn't giving here too much pain
    Loves and licky kisses

    1. We heard about Ophelia. How unusual for a hurricane to move that way! Hope things are ok there now.

  5. We have your same cold temps but we didn't get your drenching rain, Chester. Ryan is so creative☺ yummmm to lamb chops!

  6. Wow Chester, that was some storm. We are glad GW didn't get too wet. Sounds like you are being a good nurse and we hope GW's knee is all better soon!

  7. It sure was a frosty morning today wasn't it? We only had a few small branches down around us. It's good to hear that Ghostwriter is up and around. Make sure she does all her proper exercises so she heals quickly but don't let her over do it either.

  8. We had the Same weather thingy HERE... we didn't like it much either...
OMD we hope your mom's knee gets better SOON. LAMB CHOPS??? you LUCKY LUCKY guy you.

  9. Our snow went away but more stormy weather coming. Make sure to keep an eye on Ghostwriter that she does her exercises so she can get all better

  10. Chester OMCs this has been a crazy summer and fall weather wise. Yesterday we awoke to 64 then it started raining temp dropped to 54 and last night's low was 46. Brrrr for NC.
We have our purrs and prayers going that GW finds less meat grinder pain each day that passes
Ryan is adorable..does he have a bro who'd like to live here? MOL
    Hugs madi your bfff

  11. Your weather is like our weather, Chester! One second it's sunny and almost 90°F, and the next second the temp drops and you're dripping with rain. Well, anyway, we sure are glad the day ended with some lamb chops!

We also want to thank you for the good thoughts you sent for our pup Astrid! We also really appreciate that you shared your experience with your pup Charisma, as knowing that she did well after her toe amputation was very encouraging for us. Thank you again!

  12. Our weather is just like YOURS. stella rose

  13. That weather came through here too and it got chilly, which we loved. But the warm temps are coming back. At least it is cool at night so we might see some leaf color soon.

Tell Ghostwriter to follow the therapist instructions and do all that she can to get better.

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  14. I hope that your Mom's knee gets better soon. I am so scared that I am going to have to have a knee replacement too. It looks as if you did good on the food front again!

  15. You got lamb chops?? Lucky dog!! We hope your mom heals fast and will be able to walk without limping!!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  16. Sorry about your Mama's bad knee. It's no fun to have aches and pains. Maybe the lamb chops can make it all better, that would make us feel better!
