Birdie Business

Greetings loyal readers. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your inquisitive doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I have been watching the birdies from my drive-thru barking window and I tell you, there is some dirty birdie business going on!

You may remember Mr. Mortimer Seedcruncher, CEO of Sparrows Incorporated. He and I had an agreement in which I kept the Evil Squirrel Cartel, and certain bully birdies, from stealing from the birdie feeders in my yard, while he gives me and my family free admission to any and all sparrow events occurring in the arbor vitae bushes along the back fence. It looks like it will be quite a season. I saw them practicing their wrestling and kick-boxing moves today. Wow! They're a bunch of rowdy little scrappers!

Now, the little junco birdies are reaching the end of their time share in Mr. Seedcruncher's arbor vitae apartment complex. Having concluded their yearly winter symposium here, they'll be heading north soon. But the potential new tenants are here early. Indeed, big flocks of noisy grackles have arrived with all their screeching, flustering, and grandstanding.

They've kept me rather busy guarding the window box feeder. The grackle big boss, Mr. Effluvium Scatterstool, arrived promptly at 9AM with a stink eye on both sides, trying to make his case on the bully birdie seed restriction rules set forth by me and Mr. Seedcruncher.

Forget about it! Take your business elsewhere!

BARK BARK BARK!

There was a starling interested in the suet on the side of the window box today. But the big flocks of starlings we saw in winter have broken up into breeding pairs, and since this guy remembered ghostwriter's whistling lessons perfectly, we OKed him for suet consumption. Hopefully he won't be building a nest in our dryer vent.

The Evil Squirrel Cartel kept a low profile today. Hey, what are you looking at?

Remember those mourning doves from a few days ago? Well they've been hanging around waiting for an apartment to open up for them. I told Mr. Seedcruncher to hurry up with that …

… because you wouldn't believe what they were doing today!!!!!

Yipes!!! Get a room you two!

This is a G rated doggie blog!
