Hi there. Yet again our ghostwriter got roped into working a midnight shift. So, you know how that goes. She's been awake since yesterday morning, and is now a complete zombie. Therefore I, Chester L. W. Spaniel, doggie reporter extraordinaire, and proficient squirrel hunter, will write The Daily Bone today, all by myself!
It's been foggy and raining since yesterday.
Ghostwriter said she had to drive into work extra slow on the country roads last night because the fog was so thick, and the "dummy deer" were running around all over the place. Anyway, I like the fog and rain because it brings up all kinds of birdie and squirrel foot print smells. Not much was going on this morning. But by 1PM I woke up from my nap and looked outside.
What the pup? |
It was that stinky chipmunk! See his stripey butt in the grass?
I went out and chased him. (Chipmunks are fun to chase because they squeak while they run!) This dastardly chipmunk escaped up the corner molding on the house!
I stood out there barking and whining for a long time, and the chipmunk wouldn't come out of there! Ghostwriter finally had to come out in the rain and drag me back inside.
Then I had to go straight into the bathtub because ghostwriter figured I was all muddy by then. Fortunately, I like to play in the water. And I wasn't muddy at all! Just wet.
Slorp, slorp, slorp, slorp … |
Now, my esteemed colleague Joseph(Joey dog) Spaniel would like to give a quick report.
Thank you Chester. Yesterday the whole gang came over for dinner. What a great and epic dinner it was, too! Dad put a big pork roast in the crock pot with a big bag of sauerkraut and cooked it all day until it was falling apart. On the side, we had creamy mashed potatoes, some lovely green beans, and yummy crusty bread with butter. I didn't get a picture of dessert, but it was lemon meringue pie! Yum! I, of course, got a generous helping of that delicious pork roast! Plus potatoes and beans too!
Here's our favorite miniature human, Ryan, sitting nicely at the table.
Here's Chester and our Jason human hamming it up after dinner!
Ghostwriter got some lovely flowers as an early Mother's Day present.
And now back to you Chester.
Thanks Joey. I'm back at my post at the drive-through barking window, watching for that crummy little chipmunk.
Oh, and one more thing. I found a video that proves that any creature related to squirrels, throughout history, can never be trusted!
Great writing Chester, you are a very clever doggie.
ReplyDeleteOh I do wish I could have a chipmunk of my very own, a squirrel that squeaks then runs away sounds like GREAT funs
Loves and licky kisses

We just had to defend our yard from an evil squirrel. We are glad you were able to defend yours.

That chipmunk had better beware... he doesn't know WHO he is messin' with.
ReplyDeleteOMD Pork and Kraut... with potatoes... THAT is a WINNING COMBO.
hopefully mothers day will be good to your mom - maybe quiet yapping will help :)
ReplyDeleteDat chipmunk does look fun to chase!
ReplyDeleteThose pesky chippers! Joey that dinner was PAWSOME!!!!! Love your Mama's flowers :)

Crikey Chester ..... I reckon the ghostwriter should leave it to you all the time. Great job, mate!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose chipmunk blokes squeak while they run??????? OMD!! Why don't we have those in Australia?????
AND Joey's food report was great too!! Pork is my VERY favourite food. I'll do anything for a lump of crackling.
Ghostewriter's flowers are sure beautiful, aye?? I hope she gets to stay home long enough to enjoy them. Crikey Ryan's growing up, aye??
Those chippers are so much fun to seek out and chase! They dig holes in the dirt in our red barn and I spend hours looking for them. My aim is to catch one in my lifetime, Chester!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you have lots happening around there. We don't have any chipmunks unless we go into the mountains. And they have built in squeakers? Pawfect!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
We hope your Mom has a better week at work this week and all the zombieness goes away! Your Dad's crockpot creation looks fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteWoos - Ciara and Lightning
Our chipmunks do the same thing if they are caught in the yard there is a down spout they like to climb up into.
ReplyDeleteThose chipmunks with the squeakers, do they know you destuff the squeakers out of things?? BOL! They had best beware...danger lurks in the form of Chester the Varmint Chaser!
ReplyDeleteFog and deer seem to be good companions, much to the annoyance of drivers around here, too. Calhoun County where we live has the highest deer/vehicle encounter rate in our state...sigh...
