The Sludge Report

Hello fellow doggies, and honorable kitties, respectable humans, and fashionable hermit crabs too! Welcome to The Daily Bone! We're your diligent doggie reporters Chester L. W. Spaniel
and Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel.

Due to circumstances beyond our control ghostwriter thought that The Daily Bone was not posted yesterday because she got called into work and has now totally lost track of the days! Harumph! (Today IS Sunday, isn't it?)

First up, Chester on politics. As long time followers might remember, I once ran for President of the USA under the Squeaky Party, where we believe squeaky toys will solve world problems, and that everyone should have a squeaky toy. I mean, who wouldn't be delighted with a wondrous, amazing and marvelous squeaky toy? In my platform I suggested that we carpet bomb North Korea and the Middle East with squeaky toys. All those angry, nasty humans would be so happy with their new toys, they would stop being so mean, and decide maybe they don't really have to kill everyone else in the world after all. However, after so many years of continuous, and worsening violence, hatred, and terrorism erupting everywhere, I'm beginning to think that the human race has some serious problems that cannot be solved by squeaky toys alone. A huge arsenal of tennis balls would be needed too.

As for my political career, it seems that the process of electing a president has become too charged with hateful mudslinging, and I don't wish to drag my family through that ordeal.

Our Garden Buddha continues to offer suggestions to solve the mess this world is in now. He just got a new quote from the Dalai Lama, and maybe we should all take a listen to him!

"Conflicts arise when we dwell too much on secondary differences between us: differences of nationality, faith, whether we are rich or poor, educated or uneducated. What's more helpful to remember instead is that we are all human beings (and doggies) and from that point of view we are all the same."

And now I'd like to present a report about one of my favorite things: mud!

Indeed, our back yard is like a swamp right now.

Joey dog doesn't like getting his feet wet, but I got good and muddy. Upon coming back into the house, I was ready to jump in the bath tub.

Woooohoooo!

Time for a bath!

I love to play in the water!

Slorp, slorp, slorp, slorp, slorp …

Come on in Joey! It'll be fun!

Um … nope.

Our weather man has predicted colder temperatures and snow by tonight.
I'll be sure to keep a sharp eye out for this! Please stay tuned for updates!

NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you this fast breaking TDB news flash and wild wind advisory! What a big change in the weather! Earlier this afternoon we saw a beautiful rainbow!

We had some bright blue skies and sunshine …

… for about fifteen minutes! Then the dark clouds soon moved in.

The wind hit like a freight train and the power went out for a short time.

At this time, we still have loud noisy thundering howling scary high winds, and it's starting to snow! The roads may be icy so we advise that you stay at home with your doggies until this storm passes.

This has been a TDB news flash. We now return your to your regularly scheduled program.

  3. We had all that mud last week and now we have frigid temps. Of course, that is no problem for us, we love the cold but not the Momster. Sad story - an 89 year old lady with dementia left her home overnight. She was only missing for a couple of hours, but she didn't make it, poor thing died in the single digit temps:( We feel badly for her family too.

Hope the sun comes out this week.

    1. Oh, that's so tragic! The lady who passed away last week had almost the same thing happen! She went outside on the coldest night of the year (about three years ago) and fell down. Fortunately someone found her in time and she suffered only frostbite in her fingers, which healed. She was one of my favorite ladies until she passed last week. I was so sad I wasn't there when she passed.

  5. That system of rain followed by a drop in temps, ice sleet and snow came howling through here yesterday and today we are in frigid mode. And slippery mode too. The wind bites right through me.

Stay warm and safe you pups!

Oh and tell your Momma from me and my Mum 'thanks for doing what you do. Such a difficult job. When our Mum and Nan was dying her carers were so lovely to her and she wasn't always nice to them. Your Mom is a special lady but I think you know that, aye'??

  10. Who stole your snow?? Mud is great to run around and do mad zoomies in, I love the feel of it squished in between my paws, I also must admit that I also enjoy my spa visits (a bath) and getting warm after playing outside in the cold. Here in Wales, UK it has FINALLY stopped raining and the temperature has dropped big time, I enjoy your weather reports, keep us all up to date, your doing a pawsome job! 1. White-out snow hit us around 2pm. Thanks for the warning Momo and Pinot!

      Squeaky toys rule, right Pinot?

Oh and Momo, you would have loved our Miss Ginger. She hated to step on the grass even if it had a little bit of dew on it!
