August Already!

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Sorry I haven't been around much. I have been sick with some kind of stomach problem for the past week. I had to go to the vet (it cost my ghostwriter over $500!!! for that!!!!) I have to take medicine and eat a bland diet. I'm already tired of boiled chicken and rice, but my regular doggie kibble doesn't appeal to me yet. Maybe I'll get a hamburger today.

There hasn't been much else going on, other than it being really hot outside. We've had a big variety of birdies at our feeders. Do you see that spot where there's no grass growing? That's where the sparrows have been taking a dust bath.

This crow must be really hungry too. Usually they couldn't be bothered to pick up seeds from the ground.

The squirrels haven't been around much.

Get down from there, numb-nuts! You'll get a heat stroke!

There are lots of young sparrows around. They sure eat a lot! They empty out the feeders completely within two days or  less. Here's little Miss Seedcruncher inquiring about the situation.

Um, we could use some more seeds, please.

You can see in the back ground the pear tree is loaded with fruit. The squirrels, and the bunny too, like to munch on them. We don't mind too much since there's plenty for everyone. And that's about all that's happening around here.

Yes, I know there's a yum yum doggie treat for me.

A note from ghostwriter: We were kind of worried about Chester. He started out with diarrhea and loss of appetite last week, and we took him to the vet to figure out what was causing it. After several tests, they said his blood work was normal and he didn't have any parasites. Now he seems to be feeling better, but he's still not interested in his kibble. He'll eat boiled chicken or hamburger, though.

  1. Oh dear Chester. We do hope your stomach settles down and is feeling 100% better soon. I mean, boiled rice and chicken is OK, but one craves a bit of variety after a while,

  2. Chester darlin' friend...You have all kinds of purrs and thoughts coming your way from down south.
I'm glad you like and are digesting the chicken and rice. Toto the mighty mini dachshund...often got into things (dang hound nose) that did not agree with his tummy either. He had the lean hamburger and rice diet. He love it.
The heat probably doesn't help your appetite either.
Next time you are out side look look up you'll feel a gentle breeze from the south full of good wishes

  6. Maybe you might try freeze dried food like chicken patties yummy, Chester. There are several good brands at pet shops. We use Stella and Chewy, but there are others, and they even come in various 'flavors'.
MJF used to gobble those when he was not interested in anything else. I always give a little each day as a kibble topper.

POTP for you and hope you feel much better soon.

You do have tons of pears!! Wow! We have young cardinals, purple finches, and woodpeckers at our feeders. Fun to watch them.
