Earth Day!

Hello! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your enthusiastic doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Today is one of my favorite days of the year: Earth Day!

I'm going to wander around my yard and try to find some earthworms, and roots, and plants that are all living in the nice dirt and mud. Unfortunately, it's a very cold, windy day and there's still some snow on the ground in some spots. (More about the snow later.) Most of the yard was still quite mushy and muddy.

But we managed to find a couple small, pink earthworms underneath some rocks.

YESTERDAY, we awoke to find snow everywhere and still falling!

Hey, who ordered this snow?

This is the pear tree, which had just started to bloom:

The Great Grackle Flying PTA (Poop Tossers Association) spent most of that wintry day sitting on the oak tree in a disgruntled group, freezing their tail feathers off!

Heheheheh!

More photos:

Don't worry. The flowers are all right. The snow melted by the end of the day.

Later in the afternoon, we had a surprise visit by none other than Mr. Cool Beans Cooper, our friendly neighborhood Cooper's Hawk. The picture is not so good, because it was taken through the screen on the window of my ghostwriter's office.

Hey, Mr. C. B. Cooper, when are you going to catch those crummy, rotten, despicable squirrels?

OK, back to today: it's been snowing on and off all day with little accumulation, and now it's getting even more windy!

The weatherman says by tomorrow, things will warm up again.

I'm hoping it will get warm enough for the little bees to come and pollinate the pear blossoms so we can have some yummy pears this summer!

  1. We have cold and windy today too but thankfully, no snow. Your flowers and trees do look very pretty covered in the cold white stuffs! Happy Earth Day!

  2. It was great to see your photos of celebrating Earth Day. That's a good question "who ordered the snow?". We hope this will the last of the snowfall for you. Thanks for sharing the lovely photos. Have a great rest of your day.

  3. We sure have had some crazy weather the past couple of days, Chester. The weather peeps are promising warmer weather to come so we too are hopeful that our cherry trees attract the bees to pollinate them too.

  4. WoW! Chester did you ever get snow! Brrr! We are supposed to get cooler weather this weekend, but we should not get any snow, although there will be some in the high mountains. It is actually a good thing (cold and snow) as it means the run off will be slower and we might not get any flooding this year. We LOVE your yard! Your pear tree and all those grape hyacinths are pawsome! And your own purrsonal Cooper Hawk - that is EPIC! Thanks so much for visiting us and we hope that you and your family have a marvellously happy day!

  5. The spring flowers in the northeast are tough little buggers. The snow sure did make things look beautiful. I am glad it didn't stick around for long.
