The Infamous Second Shot

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your diligent doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

… so, this happened …

This was last Thursday, my ghostwriter's day off. She had to drive to work anyway, through this beautiful WNY snow squall, just to get her second Covid-19 shot.

But she wasn't too worried! After all, she didn't have any side effects from her first shot, other than a sore arm for a few days.

She felt OK for a few hours after that second shot, so she went out shopping for groceries.

It was all down-hill after that.

I'm tempted to say, "sick as a dog," but that expression is no longer politically correct. Anyway, she had a fever, chills, all over aches and pain, and fatigue. She couldn't go to work Friday because she could hardly get out of bed.

But don't worry. After 24 hours, she was all better and went to work Saturday. And now she's immune to that evil virus!

All's well that ends well.

Time for snow zoomies!

But seriously …

Just so you know, all the nursing home patients got their second shots Thursday too. Ghostwriter says that none of them, including our Oma, had any bad side effects other than a bit of tiredness.

DO NOT let this deter you from getting your Covid-19 immunizations if it's available for you.

  1. We're sorry to hear Ghostwriter had a bad reaction to the second dose. Our pawrents will be getting their shots as soon as they can find someplace that has some. We sure have enjoyed having some snow lately.

  4. I have heard that the second shot can knock you on your arse for a day. Butts, just a day. The peeps here say, expect to stay in bed ~ take a day off, then you're a-okay! And they say, the younger you are, the better the chance of it knockin' you on your arse, cause you gots more antibodies, or somethings like that! (GW would knows better than an Airedale....BOL!!! 🤣)
Hopefully, Ma can gets Gpa his furst dose soon. It's been really hard to gets around here, so paws crossed cause these variants are troublesome.
Stay well, and do some snow zoomies for me, k?
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  6. Chester...I had my first COVID vaccine on January 30...(dad of Angel Madi had his on Jan 18, (don't tell him I told you this but he is older than dirt, but spry as a Pup so he got his in the first group)
We both just had sore arms. His 2nd in Feb 8 mine is Feb 22. As our daughter told us the sore arm after C19 vaccine is like a badge of honor.
I'm so glad Oma managed ok.
    Hugs Cecilia
PS I meant to say the very first thing that you are 87 kinds of handsome today

  7. Uh-oh, I'd better take some notes. Momma got her second shot today, so I guess I'd better prepare to be Nurse Matilda tomorrow! (Momma says she only had a sore arm for a little bit for the furst dose. For this one, she's WFH today and kept her schedule clear of meetings and things Tuesday and Wednesday in case she needs a sick day.)

  8. Well, Chester, lots of impawtent stuff you shared here, and glad you Momma recovered OK after all. We're unhappy here tho: the Mom was in line and ready to roll for her 1st shot and they said, NO NO NO cause she had a fever of 101.5. She felt fine and rushed to get a test the very next morning (and had no fevers) and her test was Negative. Now she can't get an appointment for a shot ANYWHERES! So she's big time upset. We'll see. Wait and wait and wait again ...

  10. Chester, Cinnamon says that she LOVES seeing you in the snow! We are glad that your Mom is back feeling wonderful! And thanks for the head's up! Up here in Canada, we don't get the shot until late summer and knowing a head of time our Mom might feel yucky is a good thing. Thank YOU! And Thank you for visiting us too! Have a marvellously Happy Day!

  15. Good it was only one day and even better she (and Oma) are now protected. We hope to soon be called up, but my father hasn't even heard anything yet and he would be the first in our household to get a shot.

  16. We are glad that you got both shots. I hate the second made you sick but 24 hours is better than the covid.
