Odds And Ends

Greetings loyal readers. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Since coming home from Florida, ghostwriter has come down with a really bad cold. She has bronchitis and laryngitis too. Her voice sounds like a squeaky toy!

She managed to get through work this weekend. But she had to call in sick today because she had a fever. (She usually hates to call in sick!)

She says she probably picked up a bug in Florida somewhere. The big changes in the local weather could have something to do with it too.

One day it was warm, and the yard was like a squishy, soaked sponge! My outside time has been limited to basic business only, since Dad and ghostwriter didn't want me to track mud into the house.

Sunday morning we awoke to a dusting of snow. Within a few hours, it was almost all melted.

I pretty much had to entertain myself lately. Here I'm watching all the birdies.

I noticed the irises are putting up some leaves.

The daffodils and grape hyacinths are coming up.

I did some good food watching the other day. Dad and ghostwriter ordered some food from the local Chinese take-out place. Yum!

I spent some time quietly chewing on an old squeaky toy.

Oh, and of course, I got in some quality sleep time!

Good night!

Spring Time?

Greetings fellow bloggers. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your amazed doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

It is February 24th. That means it should be cold and snowy outside. Instead, we hit a record high temperature of 67ยบ today!

The sun was shining!

Robins were sitting in the budding silver maple tree.

There were lots of different birdies singing and flying around: purple finches, cardinals, robins, sparrows, crows, starlings, and even screechy old grackles. (Those grackles must have hitched a ride on the jet Dad and ghostwriter flew back from Florida on last week, because ghostwriter saw a lot of them down there too!)

I hope those birdies brought their winter feathers, though.

The local weather man is predicting a return of cold winter temperatures by the weekend!

I've been looking forward to a big blizzard with lots of snow to play in. So far, all we got was a bit of snow that would melt after a couple days.

(Ghostwriter is frowning right now. She says, be careful what you wish for.)

Well anyway, ghostwriter and Dad decided to do some Spring cleaning and opened the windows for some fresh air. Ghostwriter cleaned out her closet, and took lots of bags of clothes to Goodwill. Dad tried to fix the leaky dishwasher, which almost turned into a disaster. Fortunately he was able to stop the water before it flooded the kitchen. He pronounced the dishwasher dead, though.

I'd be glad to wash the dishes. Just saying.

Oh, and I heard that today is International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day.

Yum.

My late associate Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel would have been happy about that. It was his birthday Feb. 15th. He would have been 15 years old!

And so, we come to an end to what seemed like the first day of Spring.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz …

Catch Up Time

Hello everyone! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your diligent doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Today my ghostwriter has been trying to look at all her email after being away for five days. As I mentioned in my previous post, I was at a doggie hotel during that time where there was no
wi-fi access. (It really wasn't that bad. I had lots of doggie friends to bark with, and a warm place to sleep, and plenty of food.)

Ghostwriter would have brought me along, except she said I would have been terrified on the jets she and Dad flew on to get to Florida and back. The first one from Rochester to Philadelphia was a puddle jumper where everyone was smushed into tight little seats. There was so much turbulence, the little plane bounced and shuddered almost the whole way. The plane from Philly to Miami was bigger, and she got a window seat!

Hello Miami!

Coming home, the flight from Miami to Charlotte was delayed by an hour! But the pilot flew as fast as she could, and dropped the jet down with a big KA-BLAM on the Charlotte runway! They arrived just in the nick of time to board the next jet.

Five minutes in Charlotte NC!

Heading home at sunset.

Well, I'm quite tired today, and need to catch up on my sleep.

So I'll let ghostwriter post a few more pictures from the wedding now.

Doing Hard Time

Greetings fellow doggies. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your faithful doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I'm sorry it's been so long since I've posted a report. But you see, I had to spend some hard time in a doggie spa jail.

Can you believe it?!!!

This is the second time I've been left there, and I have no idea what I did to deserve it!

But I had my big comfy doggie bed, my spaniel water bowl, my favorite yum yum doggie food …

… and most importantly, my tennis ball that I got from my dearest Princess Leah. (I hope she doesn't think I'm a criminal now.) There were lots of other doggies there who were equally puzzled, and had no idea why their humans decided to put them there, and how long they'd have to wait to go home. The whole place was full of interesting scents from all the other doggies who had been there before. I vaguely remember that my esteemed, late colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel said he had been there once or twice, along with my highly respected senior associate Miss Ginger angel, and our Patron Saint Old Charisma too.

Fortunately, my humans picked me up after about a year a few days. I guess they thought I'd paid my debt to society by then. (Personally, I think they missed me too much.)

Happy to be home!

Later, my humans told me they had gone to Florida for a wedding.
