Never Forget

This is a special TDB and I'm your solemn doggie reporter.

Do you remember what you were doing the morning of September 11, 2001? Ghostwriter does. She was at physical therapy doing exercises. The radio was playing some annoying soft rock music, when suddenly there was an announcement that a jet had crashed into one of the World Trade buildings in New York City. Everybody stopped what they were doing to listen. At that moment, they all thought surely this must be an accident. Ghostwriter went home only to see on TV what was really happening. She saw images of people jumping out the windows of those high towers to their deaths. The TV soon stopped showing these because they thought it was too disturbing. But you can never un-see something like that! She and Joanna got into the car and drove to the Red Cross to donate blood only to find a very long line. They were turned away and asked to come back at a later time because they were overwhelmed with donors. It's been 15 years! Ghostwriter still remembers it like it was yesterday.

Learn more about Bretagne here:

  1. I was driving to the first day of a new year at university, when I heard it on the radio. I remember thinking what kind of accident is that until the second plane hit. I got to school, went to class, which was quickly cancelled. Every TV in the university was so crowded you couldn't get near it. I actually never saw the video or pictures of the event. I never went out of my way to see them. I didn't need to to understand everything changed that day. We remember.

  2. The petcretary was taking her then furkids to the vet...and it was announced on the radio as she was driving there. So she asked the vet peeps to go and check on their TV and wow, it was for real and horrible. When she got back home her mom called from Canada to ask if she ad heard the news...cause for sure it was on all the TVs there too:(

We will not forget about 9-11. May the eternal peace of love heal our wounds, but the scars will still be there and we will not ever forget.

  3. Chester yes indeed my peeps remember...early September 2001 mom and dad went to Budapest for mom to work at a conference with her boss. Normally they would sightsee a few days after the conference. But that year they had to be back home by 9/8 for a wedding, dad wasn't excited about attending a wedding. So they did their sightseeing before the conf. On 9/7 they were in the Paris airport waiting for their flight home. Had they not had the wedding to attend they would have not been able to get home. On 9/11 mom was at work...she can vividly see the look of horror on the faces of folks who were in her office when they heard the horrible news. Your mention of trying to donate blood reminded Mom that she and several students and NC State U tried to donate blood too but they too were overwhelmed.
Hugs to you, GW and Dad
    Madi your bfff

  4. Our mom remembers that day vividly. She was at home in the morning with our Angel Sister Nina and saw everything on the TV. It was difficult to go into work that afternoon. There wasn't much work done that day needless to say.

  5. Mom and dad and angel Maggie had gone for a walk earlier and were in the workshop working on one of their never-ending projects. The radio let us know that we needed to turn on TV. We have a TV in our workshop and to watch the horror on TV was just too indescribable for words :-(

  6. My pawrents were on vacation in Branson, MO and mommy watched evfurrything happen live on the TV while daddy was in the shower. She thought the furst plane was an accident, until the second one. Most of the shows in Branson still went on, with pawrayers and spawcial tributes to the victims and a lot of patriotic music. All the retired veterans (there are always a lot of retired veterans visiting Branson) were ready to re-enlist and go fight the terrorists!
