Yum Yum Report

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

So sorry I haven't done a Yum Yum report in such a long time. My late associate and culinary expert Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel would be disappointed in me! But ghostwriter and Dad seem to make the same dinners all the time, and keep them quite simple. Not that I'm complaining. I always get a sample of everything.

They did have a few different things worth mentioning. First up, lunch from Fox's deli! Authentic matzo ball soup, potato latkes with sour cream and applesauce, and Fox's famous Rueben sandwich. Amazing! Be sure to visit their website and see the funny pictures that go with  the names of some of their sandwiches.

Oh, and then there was Easter dinner! Ghostwriter cooked up a big pot of collard greens with smoked turkey wings. 

She served it along with crock pot barbecue ribs, mashed sweet potatoes, and corn bread. Not exactly a traditional Easter dinner, but it was very delicious.

Some Easter candy. Not for doggies, though.

Last week we had some good old pizza and chicken wings from Pizza Corner.

Now we have variations on the basic theme. Here's some chicken breaded with turkey stuffing, with a baked potato, and green beans. 

Ravioli and mixed vegetables.

Chicken and biscuits.

Meatloaf with baked potato and steamed vegetables.

The classic grilled cheese sandwich, and tomato soup.

And finally, a seasoned pork tenderloin, with mashed potatoes, and green beans.

Flower Friday

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your observant doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

Spring is proceeding here in Western NY. The daffodils and hyacinths are almost done blooming. But  now we have some tulips. 

Here are the first of the lilacs:

The sweet woodruff is starting to bloom too. It has a wonderful, fresh smell. Even when the flowers are done blooming, the leaves release their scent when it rains. 

Don't forget the forget-me-nots!

Unfortunately, it's also lawn mower season. It seems that on sunny days, we hear lawn mowers all day long! How annoying! 

Oh, one more thing that has nothing to do with flowers. We finally watched "The Secret Life of Pets" on Netflix. I've been waiting for this for a long time!

I saw every kind of pet imaginable, even sea monkeys, in that movie!

A highly recommended movie for all you pets out there everywhere!

Thursday Squirrel

Hello there. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your vigilant doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

There was an alien squirrel snarfing birdie seeds in the yard today. He had a dark colored chin. I've never seen him before. The grackles kept a close eye on him until … 

… I ran out after him.

I had to do this twice before he got the message that …

… the birdie seeds are for the birdies! 

Tuesday Evening News

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your windblown doggie reporter 

Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

As you can see in the picture above, it's very windy out. My ears are flapping while I'm just standing here! I've been remiss on my posting, so now I have a very busy report for you.

On Sunday, my favorite miniature human, Ryan, came over for dinner. He's not so little anymore.

And he still loves to play with cars and trucks.

Maybe the next time he visits we can go out and run around the yard.

Monday morning I saw old Fatty White-Ears the squirrel gobbling up birdie seeds from the ground under the birdie feeder. Poor Debbie Dove could hardly get any!

So I zoomed out and chased him up the pear tree. That wasn't very smart of him, because there's no where else to go from up there. I would have barked all day at him, but ghostwriter thought it would annoy the neighbors. So grudgingly, I had to go back inside the house. 

But that's OK. Debbie Dove came by to thank me for chasing that rascal squirrel away so she would have more seeds to eat.

Monday evening, a big thunderstorm rolled in with lots of wind and torrential rain. There was even a tornado watch for a little while. But the storm passed. You wouldn't believe the sunset we had! 

Do you see how lumpy those clouds look? Those are called mammatus clouds, and they're often associated with storms. Here's an article in case you want to know more about them:

For a few minutes, the sunset became all gold, and then fiery orange.

But that wasn't the end of our crazy weather! This morning we had hail coming down!

I couldn't go out in that, but I did get to bark at alias Twinkletoes the squirrel from my drive-through barking window. Do you see him halfway up the clothes line pole? What's with those dumb squirrels out in the rain and hail?

At dinner time, when the wind was gusting to 45 miles per hour, Dad went out to cook some nice steak on the grill. I got a bite of that yummy steak, plus some rice mixed with the steak juice from the serving platter.

Ooooo, tenderloin medium rare, basmati rice, and steamed vegetables.

Oh, and I almost forgot! The street cleaner truck went by today too! Wow!
