Monday Evening News

Greetings loyal readers. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your faithful doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

My ghostwriter worked over the weekend, but that didn't stop lots of events from happening. Yesterday was the Kentucky Derby. That's a big race with a bunch of horses running around in a circle to see who finishes first. The race itself only takes a couple minutes. But the news about it goes on for hours! The ladies at the nursing home put on their fancy hats and watched most of it.
Here's Oma with her flower hat on:

After that, they got an unexpected surprise as they looked out the patio windows. A big, bright, beautiful rainbow appeared as the setting sun shot rays through some rain clouds in the eastern sky!

But that's not all that happened this weekend! We received pictures from my favorite young human, Ryan, who got to visit some big gigantic machines, like fire engines, garbage trucks, and bulldozers. Ryan loves big trucks and he got a real close-up look at them all!

Wow! I wonder if Ironing Board Man was there too?

As you can see, we actually have some nice sunny warm weather!

Hey, is that the mail truck going by? Excuse me for a moment while I go bark at it. Please take a look at some more of our beautiful flowers.

Yellow tulip with one red stripe

Cheerful dandelions

Pear blossoms ready to open

Fancy daffodils

OK, I'm back. As I was saying, flowers and trees are blooming everywhere!

Can't you just taste the pollen in the air?

Oh, do you know what else happens on May 4th? It's the day you can watch all the Star Wars movies on TV. Dad was very happy that day. For one thing, he loves puns (May the 4th be with you.) I'll explain what else he liked that day. You see, he is severely hard of hearing. When those movies first came out, he could never understand what all those droids and Darth Vader and the Storm Troopers and other characters were saying. He can lip read very well, but not if the characters all have face masks on! Saturday was the first time he ever saw the first Star Wars movie with closed captions! They even captioned R2D2's chirps and squeaks!

The yellow words are the captions

Dad watching Star Wars

MAY THE 4TH BE WITH YOU

Just when I thought I was finished with the news, this happened:

First grilled steak of the season! Super yummy!

One more thing. Ghostwriter took a random picture of the swirling clouds this afternoon. She didn't see anything in them at first.

But if you make the picture small, you can see a doggie face with long ears flying. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Maybe it was angel Joey dog checking in on us.

And now you know the news!

P.S. to CLWS, Dougie Dog has sent you an email as he was quite impressed by what he saw here today.
Well, actually he is ALWAYS impressed, not only by what he sees, but also by your Ghostwriter's writings
which amuse him quite a lot.

  5. The weather sure was nice for a few days around here Chester. Your flowers sure are looking good (although our dad doesn't think dandy lions are pretty flowers). That was a great rainbow. Is that a solar farm in that rainbow picture?

    1. Yes, that is a solar farm in the background. They put it in a couple years ago. There used to be a little woods there, which we liked better, but the panels provide power for the school and businesses near by.

  7. It must have been Angel Joey in the clouds.

I like to watch dvd's with the English subtitles. It makes it easier sometimes to understand what some people are mumbling in a film!
