Another Crazy Day!

Greetings friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your pertinacious doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I went out this morning, and the snow was covered with a layer of ice! In some areas I could walk on top of it. But in other spots my feet broke through.

It made for some pretty tough going, that's for sure. I went slipping and sliding a few times! All day long there have been snow squalls rolling through. So one minute it's sunny, and the next it's snowing like crazy. It looked like a blizzard for a while, so ghostwriter cancelled my appointment with the vet.

Well, we were all set to spend the day relaxing at home despite the weather, and watch the birdies flying back and forth between the Sparrows Inc. Winter Lodge in the Sticks and the birdie feeders.

Then, ghostwriter got a phone call. One of her coworkers was begging her to come in and work for four hours. But when exactly are those fours? From 11pm until 3am! She said she would do it. I say she's insane!

She also told me I have a special greeting card in a special red envelope, that says "The Queen's Mail" on it. But I can't open it until tomorrow, on Valentine's Day.

Hmmmmm … I bet it's from my dearest Princess Leah, sending me loves and licky kisses.

I hope she got the card I sent her too. And now, I've got to run. It's starting to snow again.

OK bye!

Ghostwriter says she might not get the time to write The Daily Bone for me tomorrow, since she's going to be home late and go to bed at 4am, and then has to go back to work at 3pm. (I still say that's insane!) We hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's Day. (And I hope these snow squalls stop soon too!)

  1. What a dedicated Mama you have...We hope she(and you) stay safe in the slippery snow!
    Rosy, Jakey & Arty

  2. Your Mom is a very good person!!!

We have a day in the 50s so the snow is just about all gone, but we hear there will be snow several days coming up. We hope it brings more than just a dusting.

  3. I think Ghostwriter might be a little on the not right side too! Imagine having to work in the night and then again in the day! Madness.

    1. Ghostwriter says that in a small facility like the nursing home where she works, everyone feels like family and tries to help each other out. She has found she can work until 3am in an emergency, and still get barely enough sleep to be able to report for work the next day at 3pm. If she has to stay any longer than 3am, though, forget it!

  4. That looks like so little snow, we got 21 inches or so. Hope ghostwriter has a great sleep. Happy Valentine's Day!

  5. Our yard is much the same as yours Chester. We hate walking on that snow where one second you are on top of it and the next you are breaking through that layer of ice. Right now we are getting a heavy squall. The more snow on top the less you will feel that under layer breaking through so we hope we get lots more.

  6. Mom was up at 4:30 this morning as Dad had to go to O'Hair, and she's been a zombie all day.

  7. You are so brave to be out there in the cold. Don't your feet feel cold? I love to see you so happy outside.

  8. Happy Valentine's Day! I bet it are from Princess Leah!

  9. We have ice on what little bit of snow we got. yuk!
    Happy Valentine's Day, Chester!

  10. GW is a most devoted NURSE!! Hugs to her.
As for your royal valentine...ohhhh the anticipation will make it so much more exciting.
    Hugs cecilia

  11. I struggled with that same ice over snow situation around here, C. Mom says I’m too tiny to break thru the ice layer so I slide around like a cartoon dog and SHE LAUGHS at me! Thank goodness the maintenance guys snow plowed a few areas of grass for me. Otherwise, things could’ve turned ugly!

    Love and licks,

  12. We hope you stay warm in all that snow! Mom keeps waiting for signs of spring but so far the only ones she sees are on TV BOL!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  13. Gee that's an awful shift and for four hours as well. Your mom must be a dedicated soul. Maybe she'll get you a treat Chester. Stay warm buddy.
