The Ice Storm Cometh … Not

Hello! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast TDB doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

For the last couple days, we have been sitting tight waiting for the next ice storm apocalypse to come roaring through Western NY. But all we got on Saturday was a little ice coating the tree branches. We stood and listened to the creaking of the silver maple as the breeze hit it. Ghostwriter says it's an ominous sound that you never forget. She was thinking about the ice storm of 1991. Fortunately, all the ice melted within a couple hours.

It rained Sunday, but not too much. Today, however, we had a deluge of biblical proportion! It poured all morning without stop. My back yard looks like a swamp!

We'll keep you updated as the day progresses, so stay tuned.

This is a TDB update about the drenching rainfall earlier today. I'm your soggy doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. The rain has finally slowed! As you can see, ghostwriter let me off the leash so we could check out the whole yard (and get real muddy in the process.) Every step we took made a squishing sound.

Wow! Look at this gigantic puddle!

I checked in on the Sparrows Inc. Country Club in the Sticks, but no one was home. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have flood insurance and just abandoned it. Dad will proceed with demolition as soon as we get some warmer and dryer conditions.

It's gotten windy now, so maybe that will dry up some of the water and mud. I heard there might be snow tonight! Meanwhile, I'm headed indoors and straight into the bath tub. Hooray!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.

  1. Lucky that the storm didn't hit you too hard. We didn't get the snow they were calling for but we got some freezing rain today, not as bad as the city. Spring will come.

    1. I think it's one of those years where we skip spring all together and switch from winter to summer sometime in the middle of May!

  3. We think the dreaded mud is everywhere. We are looking forward to a sunnier week and hopes that things will finally dry up.

  4. We are breathing a sigh of relief that the ice storm wasn't much of anything. Our pawrents went out on Saturday and filled up the Genny Rator (or something like that) in case we lost power. All this rain sure is cramping our play time. We haven't been able to play in our yard for days! We sure wish it would dry out soon.

  5. We are glad the dreaded storm did not come as forecast. We had a couple inches of very wet snow followed by a bit of sleet and freezing rain. By afternoon the roads were driveable.

  6. Yesterday morning there was quite a think coating of ice on everything here...from all the freezing rin that went on for hours overnight and into the daytime...and before that on Saturday morning we had those flooding buckets of rain too...it poured for hours...blech. Then the winds picked up, and we about got blown away...well, not so much here, but further west the trees were coming down from it. The roads were treacherous yesterday, so pawppy did not go to church. Petcretary had to go to her work, but by then it was a bit better. Then the snow started. At least we did not get the amounts they got to the north of us...but it did snow today, of and on, hard at times...all the day long. Sheesh, its mid April! It is more like December...

Glad you have gotten off easy, Ice storms are not fun at all.

  11. We admire you. You are a brave dog to walk on the wet ground. We don't like it being squishy under paw.
