Super Sunday

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your dutiful doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Now hear this! On Friday, February 2, 2018 ghostwriter went back to work at the nursing home on 3 to 11pm shift after being off for four months for her knee replacement surgery. She got through it. The next day she said she woke up feeling like she was run over by a truck. But her new knee was OK! Hooray!

But I'd rather she stayed home. I mean, look at this yum yum dinner she made for Super Bowl Sunday! Ooooo! Crockpot ribs with barbecue sauce, and collard greens that were cooked with a smoked turkey wing, and mashed sweet potatoes, and little sausages in a blanket. I got to try everything, and it was all super delicious!

And now Dad is watching the Super Bowl Football Game. I've kind of figured out what that is. It's this game played by big strong guys in tight pants with lots of shoulder padding and big helmets on their heads. They have to get a squeaky ball to one end of their back yard or other, and they all try to stop each other by smashing into each other. I tell you, if I got hold of that squeaky ball, I'd run as fast as I could right out of that back yard, and I wouldn't stop until I was home in my doggie bed!

Ghostwriter says that she still doesn't understand all the rules of football. So instead, we watched some videos, like this adorable owl in Finland:

And this lovely Sasquatch family. (Notice in the first scene, Mommy Sasquatch is whomping a squirrel against a rock. Wow! That's my kind of Mommy!)

I could spend hours watching those Suburu car ads with the Barkleys too!

Ghostwriter and I watched the half time show, though. Dad is very hard of hearing. He has closed captions playing on the TV all the time so he knows what's being said. (Those are the yellow letters on the lower left screen here.) Sometimes he watches TV with no sound at all and just reads the captions.

This year he got some special headphones that play the TV sound directly into his ears by some magic wifi technology. Now he can read the captions and hear the show too! But ghostwriter and I can't hear a thing when he does that.

So I can have a nice comfy nap on the couch.

Good night.

  3. Oh my - what a yummy SuperBowl dinner and the best part is that you got to taste it, Chester! We would suspect that it will take ghostwriter a wee bit of time to get back into the swing of things. You're going to miss her, Chester.

  8. We hope the week goes better for Mom - always hard to go back after a break. Please tell her not to overdo it and get some good rest for herself too. Mom and Dad thought this year's commercials were overall big duds, but it is still fun to watch them. We got some snow yesterday FINALLY!!!

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  10. We weren't very happy with the game...our team lost. The commercials were not as good as other years and even the Half Time show just wasn't that good. Glad to hear your mom is feeling better! Dinner at your house looks GREAT! We had those little wrapped things too...with hotdogs! :)
