Super Sunday

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your dutiful doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Now hear this! On Friday, February 2, 2018 ghostwriter went back to work at the nursing home on 3 to 11pm shift after being off for four months for her knee replacement surgery. She got through it. The next day she said she woke up feeling like she was run over by a truck. But her new knee was OK! Hooray!

But I'd rather she stayed home. I mean, look at this yum yum dinner she made for Super Bowl Sunday! Ooooo! Crockpot ribs with barbecue sauce, and collard greens that were cooked with a smoked turkey wing, and mashed sweet potatoes, and little sausages in a blanket. I got to try everything, and it was all super delicious!

And now Dad is watching the Super Bowl Football Game. I've kind of figured out what that is. It's this game played by big strong guys in tight pants with lots of shoulder padding and big helmets on their heads. They have to get a squeaky ball to one end of their back yard or other, and they all try to stop each other by smashing into each other. I tell you, if I got hold of that squeaky ball, I'd run as fast as I could right out of that back yard, and I wouldn't stop until I was home in my doggie bed!

Ghostwriter says that she still doesn't understand all the rules of football. So instead, we watched some videos, like this adorable owl in Finland:

And this lovely Sasquatch family. (Notice in the first scene, Mommy Sasquatch is whomping a squirrel against a rock. Wow! That's my kind of Mommy!)

I could spend hours watching those Suburu car ads with the Barkleys too!

Ghostwriter and I watched the half time show, though. Dad is very hard of hearing. He has closed captions playing on the TV all the time so he knows what's being said. (Those are the yellow letters on the lower left screen here.) Sometimes he watches TV with no sound at all and just reads the captions.

This year he got some special headphones that play the TV sound directly into his ears by some magic wifi technology. Now he can read the captions and hear the show too! But ghostwriter and I can't hear a thing when he does that.

So I can have a nice comfy nap on the couch.

Good night.

  1. My daddy has the flu, so mommy let him watch the Stoopidbowl at home this year. He's nevfur done that befure. My mommy's like your mommy, she watched YouTube videos, BOL!! Tell your mommy congratulations on being able to get back to work!

  2. Hooray for a return to the working ability!
We bet it was good to be with her little old ladies and men once again. Petcretary worked too...and missed all the hoopla of the super bowl game. Only a few peeps at her work had it on...most were watching the kitten or puppy bowl! BOL!

  3. Oh my - what a yummy SuperBowl dinner and the best part is that you got to taste it, Chester! We would suspect that it will take ghostwriter a wee bit of time to get back into the swing of things. You're going to miss her, Chester.

  4. Oh my darling Chester, you look SUPER Handsome in you lovely blue ribbon!
    Loves and licky kisses
    Princess Leah xxx
PeeS You take care of yourself Ghostwriter and look after your bionic knee

  5. We're glad to hear that Ghostwriter is well enough to return to work but we know you have loved having her home all this time. That sure was a tasty dinner she cooked up for the Super Bowl.

  6. Yay for your Ghostwriter getting her new knee back to work. Those things are a life changer. My mom loves hers! She takes it everyplace!!

    Love and licks,

  7. We are glad GW's knee did ok on her first day back. We know she is on her feet lots.
That was a yummy supper. Mom and I don't know a thing about feetball either. Mom does say one thing for certain as soon as somebuddy tackled her she'd bite them.
    Hugs madi your bfff

  8. We hope the week goes better for Mom - always hard to go back after a break. Please tell her not to overdo it and get some good rest for herself too. Mom and Dad thought this year's commercials were overall big duds, but it is still fun to watch them. We got some snow yesterday FINALLY!!!

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  9. The game was fun - the commercials were just Ok. Hope Ghostwriter has a good week - it is hard to go back to work after being off for that long
    Hazel & Mabel

  10. We weren't very happy with the game...our team lost. The commercials were not as good as other years and even the Half Time show just wasn't that good. Glad to hear your mom is feeling better! Dinner at your house looks GREAT! We had those little wrapped things too...with hotdogs! :)

  11. We are wishing your Mom the best of luck going back to work

  12. Crikey Chester .... Mum and I dropped by to see if you had any beaut snow pics this winter and you didn’t disappoint, aye?? AND your poor Mom’s got a new knee. My Dad’s got one of those and it was no fun when he got his. He’s great now though and he’s very happy with his new knee. I hope your Mom is too. It’s my birthday today Chester and I got a beautiful card from your dear girlfriend Princess Leah. You sure are one lucky bloke, aye? She’s the best. My love to you and all your family. Your always in our thoughts even if we don’t get to. Is it too much. 💕🌻

    1. Oh dear .... that last sentence should have read ‘even if we don’t get to VISIT too much’

  13. We watched the SuperBowl by ourselves and really enjoyed staying home. I love Subaru commercials the best.
