Hello everyone. This is a special edition of The Daily Bone and I'm your nostalgic doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.
It has been exactly one year since my esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. We still miss him as much as ever!
Joey dog was from one of the last litters of cocker spaniel puppies raised by Rita Conlin before she retired. Rita bred not only for conformation, but for temperament. Joey dog was always a patient, gentle soul. Here he is with our Miss Ginger, who was also a Conlin Cocker, and who, incidentally crossed the Bridge in July of 2010. (July is always a tough month for us.)
Miss Rita decided to not dock the tails of her cocker pups.
Joey was always proud of his beautiful tail!
Joey was always proud of his beautiful tail!
Ghostwriter says Joey dog had such poise when he walked, even on ice. Here I am slipping and sliding around, while he trots gracefully.
Of course everyone will remember Joey dog for his flawless food watching technique.
And his appreciation for food and doggie related funnies.
I learned from the best!
I miss him a lot!
Chester, GW and Dad...we send you gentle hugs and kitty kisses today as you remember Joey dog with this beautiful tribute. He left paw prints on hearts and his gentle manner and knowledge of food with you three, all treasured memory of a life lived full with love.

Hi dear Joey ~ we, too, miss you! And we hope you are happy romping with friends beyond the rainbow. I must tell you that your bro-fur Chester is doing a fine job keeping us company, we love his stories and photos and are always pleased to visit with him here (tho we are admittedly poor at commenting). To your Mom and Dad who miss you very much each and every day, we send a hug and gentle woofs ... Fondly, your Zoolatry Friends.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful memories you have of Joey Dog. We miss him too. But we know he is smiling down at all of you and remains forever in your hearts.

Oh Angel Joey Dog, you were an inspiration to all. Your excellent skills at foodables and critter chasin' was unmatched! I knows your peeps and Chester miss you to pieces, and so do we.
ReplyDeleteThis was a lovely tribute. ♥
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
We are so sorry you lost your friend...but we do understand! Especially Miss Chloe...because when we lost LadyBug, she was just traumatized...and she was looking everywhere for her. Now that Romeo and Juliet are on the scene...things have much improved and we all get along great...except when Chloe tries to steal someone's bone!! This was a truly beautiful tribute to your friend.

We miss Joey too. My great uncles have been gone 13 years now and we still remember and miss them too. My brother and I have long tails too. Another thing that we share with you and Joey.
ReplyDeleteRainbow anniversaries are always difficult. I wish that I'd known Joey, he seems like a great friend.
ReplyDeleteWe know how much you must miss Joey. You have done a good job filling his paws. Mr Bailey was a good food watcher and begger and it seems Hazel has decided to fill that position now
