Greetings friends and fans. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your trusty doggie reporter

Ghostwriter has two cocoons that she and Dad found under the birch tree a couple weeks ago. She's kept them on her desk in her office all this time. We could hear the pupae moving around inside of them sometimes, so we knew they were alive. We all thought they would just be some drab old moths!
Then, on Thursday, one of them hatched!
It took a couple hours for it's wings to unfold.
It's called a polyphemus or cyclops moth, and it's huge!
Then it started flying around! Wow! I thought it was a big exotic squeaky toy for me to play with. But ghostwriter said I had to leave it alone. It was cold and rainy outside, so we didn't want to let it go just then. They put it in the spare room where I couldn't get to it.
Today, Ryan came to visit and he watched as we let the moth go free outside.
Listen up everyone! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your incredulous doggie reporter

If you've been watching the news lately, you'd think the United States is in the midst of a crisis of epic proportions! News anchors are in hysterics, shouting, arguing, making wild accusations and apocalyptic predictions, spouting conspiracy theories, rolling their eyes, and whipping up all kinds of fear and hate. Politicians are freaking out, and trying to make themselves look good while trashing everyone else. What's it all about? It doesn't matter! In a few days the fervor will die down, until a new crisis get's invented.
The next crisis.
Good grief! What will happen if there really was something horrible going on, like an alien invasion? Our government will be so busy finger pointing and trying to look politically correct that nothing will get done, and aliens will blow us all out of orbit!
I suggest everyone sit down, take a deep breath, and think about the things you should REALLY be afraid of:
Did I miss anything?
Now then. I hope you all feel better now that I've taken your mind off all that political blathering.
We interrupt your regularly scheduled program for this TDB Special Report. I'm your astute
doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.
The other day we reported on a notorious poo-bombing campaign being carried out on ghostwriter's car in the driveway. Look at those gigantic splats!
The lovely view from inside ghostwriter's car. Yucky!
We've been trying to figure out who the culprit was. Below is a picture of the spruce tree and the driveway that's been adorned with birdie poop. We can note that the trajectory of those poo-bombs points directly to that very spruce tree.
We already know Mr. and Mrs. Wormgrinder, the robins, have a nest in that tree about halfway up the left side. We've seen LuLu Wormgrinder sitting on the nest, while her husband Brad violently attacks any birdies who come near. Their babies only make little peeping sounds, so we don't think they're big enough to make those huge poo-bombs. (In case you didn't know, birds like robins and grackles feed their babies in the nest, and then carry away the babies' poops so the nest doesn't get all soiled.)
Well, this evening, ghostwriter was looking out the front door at the possibility of a nice sunset …
… when look who flew out of the very tip top of the big spruce tree:
Ah-ha! That's a grackle! I didn't get a good look at it, but I think it might be Chuck Turdflapper or his wife Dimwitty. I could hear the nestlings squawking loudly as he flew out of the tree! Oh joy! There must be three or four of the little gargoyles up there!
I kid you not! Here's a picture of little Squatty Dingleberry from a couple years ago. If that's not a homely baby, then you need to get your eye balls checked!
Well, anyway, that explains where the poo-bombs are coming from. Ghostwriter told Dad that he'd better get the hose out of the shed and hook it up so she can wash the poopies off her car.
But, I think she just wants to zap some of the Great Grackle Flying PTA (Poop Tosser's Association) right out of the sky! Seriously, it's not a good idea to get ghostwriter angry by pooping all over her car!
Consider yourselves warned, birdies!
Oh, and don't worry. Ghostwriter won't spray the babies with the hose, even if they are ugly.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.
Greetings friends and fans. This is the daily Bone and I'm your enlightened doggie reporter

I have a number of stories to cover today. First, we finally got a little sunshine today after days of being deluged with rain and dreariness!
Speaking of deluges, the Great Grackle Flying PTA (Poop Tosser's Association) announced the hatching of their eggs by decorating ghostwriter's car. Their offspring must be well fed judging by the size of those poo-bombs!
There was not a single drop of birdie poop on Dad's car which was parked right next to hers! So ghostwriter went over and shook the tall arbor vitae bush the grackles were nesting in just to piss them off. So here they are, Doody and Ditzy Craphurler, flying and squawking!
We can hardly wait to see their little baby gargoyles when they leave the nest!
Moving on to my next story, the persistent, record-breaking rainfall has resulted in copious amounts of mud in my back yard. I had to go out on a leash so I wouldn't get all muddy. But I did get one chance to have a good run, though.
Immediately upon coming back into the house, I had to jump in the bath tub. This water was clear before I got in. Really! It's a good thing I like getting in the bath tub!
Later on, Debbie Dove peeked in the window to say hello and remind us that the birdie feeders need to be refilled.
Oh, and we found an old photograph of my esteemed former associate Miss Ginger. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2010. She was a real spit-fire! Even though she was completely blind by the time she was 7 years old, she lead the way on walks, and wasn't afraid of thunder. She provided the dinner music every day, and interrogated visitors thoroughly before allowing them in the house. We still miss her a whole lot!
We had a spectacular sunset this evening!
Dad and ghostwriter had some Chinese food for dinner. Fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce, crab rangoon, and fried rice. Yummy!
This evening I'll be watching for the moon. This is a picture from last night:
