Ultimate Super-Fan Trivia Work-out

This is The Daily Bone and I’m your exceptional doggie correspondent Chester L. W. Spaniel.

This month we’re celebrating two whole years of The Daily Bone! My excellent doggie blog was conjured up during the elections of 2012. My family was watching TV and complaining about all the mudslinging and character assassination in the news and political ads, while I was being a good doggie, sitting quietly on the couch next to them contentedly nibbling on a squeaky toy. One of them commented that I could run a better presidential campaign than all the crazies who were running for that office. In fact, I could have my own political party called the Squeaky Party. My platform could be squeaky toys for world peace. After all, who can stay angry and hostile when he or she has a wonderful, delightful, marvelous, beautiful, pulchritudinous, and fascinating squeaky toy to play with? My ghostwriter volunteered to help me with my endeavor.

Over the last two years, I have written about a lot of great subjects. Doggie logic knows no boundaries, so I am free to express my opinion of a multitude of things. If you have been keeping up with me, you’ll know the answer to the following questions.

Now Lookie Here!

Greetings fellow Earthlings. This is The Daily Bone and I’m your sagacious doggie correspondent Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Yesterday evening my ghostwriter and Dad made the epic journey—epic in that I mean driving down routes 390, 490, and 590, and through the Can of Worms, in rush hour traffic!—to visit our favorite miniature human, Ryan. As you can see, he has grown up a lot, and has become quite knowledgeable about things in general.
Now lookie here!

It's pizza night.

Pizza tastes delicious, and it’s OK to eat it with your hands. And pizza grease can do wonders for your hair. Make sure you rub it in liberally into your hair before your Mom gets a chance to wash your hands off!

We give pizza a thumbs up.

My culinary colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel and I give pizza a thumbs up too, even though we don't have thumbs; and we're wondering where the left overs are.

What's It?

Hello. This is a TDB quick note. I’m your inquisitive doggie host Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Today Dad brought in some strange fruit. At first I thought they were tennis balls. They’re about the same size and color.

They are heavy but firm, a little bit sticky, smell like pine resin, and don't bounce. I called in my learned associate Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel who, as you know, is Doggie Chief Inspector, comestibles division, and founder of the Yum Yum Coalition. He says he knows exactly what they are, but he’s wondering if anyone else knows.

(answer: osage oranges, aka hedge apples)

Geeky Monday

Greetings fellow earthlings! This is The Daily Bone and I’m your perspicuous doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel along with my erudite colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel.

Our guest columnist Miss Charlee Puppy did a report on her humans’ science geek decorating using their favorite things to collect: skulls, giant bugs, and deviant art. Today we’ll show you some of our own human’s collections and photos of things they think are cool.

You might be a science geek if your bedtime reading looks like this!

The clouds in the sky are a source of never ending interest, day or night. Doggies, remind your humans to take the time to look up once in a while and ponder the firmament.

Decorating with fossils is fun!

Our giant trilobite.
Table top with embedded fossils.

Be observant. There are cool things all around you in your own back yard!

Beetle that was living under a rock.
Seeds that look like tiny feathers.
A tiny little mushroom.

There's a little science geek in all of us! All it takes is a little curiosity and wonder.

Here's a link to some photos of the Rochester shale trilobites. Lockport is about a one hour drive from where we live.

TDB Florida Edition Part 5

Hi again. This is The Daily Bone Florida Edition and I’m your cordial doggie host
Miss Charlee Puppy.

It has been great fun posting the Florida Edition of The Daily Bone. Thank you all for your support and kind comments. And thank you to my magnanimous sponsors Chester L. W. Stephens and Joseph (Joey dog) Stephens for giving me this opportunity. They’ve decided I can continue to write for TDB—and they’re sure their fans will agree—as a featured columnist.

I’ve kind of run out of things to report on Chester and Joey's  humans and their visit here, so I will conclude with some more random photos of their adventures.
