Mr. Bones Daily is for the Birds!

Greetings friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your diligent doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

As you might know, my ghostwriter worked all the way through Halloween and Thanksgiving, (and will have to work through Christmas too.)  Mr. Bones Daily, however, has been just hanging around in the garage, supposedly keeping watch on Dad's tools, machines, fishing poles, jars of nuts and bolts and hinges and screws, and other junk stuff.

When I went out to the backyard yesterday, some birdies flew into the garage, and perched right over his head!

So I asked him why he wasn't doing his job. After all, those birdies could poop all over Dad's workbench! This was his reply:

It's too cold. I'm frozen stiff!

You have GOT to be kidding me!

So I chased the birdies out all by myself. Harumph!

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you this special report. Today it snowed all day long! But I didn't get to play in it. That's because I had to spend the whole day at the vet getting blood tests. Blah! But no matter. My ghostwriter kept watch over the Evil Squirrel Cartel. It started out peacefully enough.

But apparently at least one of them seemed drunk! Indeed, he was seen doing all kinds of weird acrobatics, like hanging upside down from the top of the pear tree. He then came down from the tree and proceeded to do several jumps, hops, and back flips on the ground.

In fact, he was so annoying that the other squirrel that was nearby, chased him away.

Ditzy squirrels!

We now return your to your regularly scheduled program. Good night!

  1. We'd be frozen stiff too if we had to hang out in the garage.

We had a couple bats in our cellar a few weeks ago...no idea how they got down there...but in ancient dwellings there always seem to be entrances for all kinds of critters that are seeking better accommodations that they had elsewhere.

Squirrels can be very sillly and squirrely sometimes...BOL!

Snow?? Looks like you got more than we did, about 2 inches here.

Hope the blood work comes back OK, Chester.

  2. Those squirrels can be such a pain! We had snow for most of the day yesterday too, Chester. Sadly, it didn't amount to much.

  3. Ooh, I hope you are okay Chester.
I am still waiting for a squirrel in my garden. But I do have a lot of birds.

PS: The hand is doing fine, it is just the wrist with a possible unrelated problem that will be looked at in January.

  5. Bones stinks at his job, apparently. Maybe a dog skeleton would do a better job, or we can just stick with YOU, C. You nailed it. Bummer about the blood work. We hope all is well with it. We had a dusting of snow, and Mom made me step in it. It's doggie abuse.

  7. Those birds and squirrels sure can be pests. We have our paws crossed that all our blood tests don't show anything bad.

  8. Maybe you can find a coat for Mr. Bones that would keep him warm and let him work.
