Greetings friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your diligent (and expert scent tracker) doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.
Now that it's September, you may have noticed the days are getting a little bit shorter. Here in WNY it's dark by 8pm. You never know what kind of day to expect. Yesterday it was warm and sunny. But today, it's cool and it rained all morning.
There have been big flocks of sparrows at our birdie feeders all day long! (If you enlarge this photo below, you'll be able to see the hummingbird that's been visiting lately too.)
We left the back door to the garage open, and the next time we went out, there was a whole flock of those sparrows INSIDE the garage! They all flew back out pretty quickly. But one little birdie decided to fly into the house! Wow! That little birdie flew all around the place and ended up hitting the wall and falling down behind the big shelf the TV sits on. Dad managed to chase her out of there, and ghostwriter caught her and put her outside. (Sorry we didn't get any pictures of the little birdie. Ghostwriter didn't want to stress her out any more.)
So then I, being an excellent cocker spaniel hunting doggie, picked up the scent and decided to track everywhere that little birdie went: all over the garage, and then all over the house. Unfortunately, I tried to squeeze myself behind the TV cabinet, much to Dad's objection. Well that's exactly where the little birdie had gotten herself stuck! My nose doesn't lie!
While Dad was pulling me out of there he discovered that there was a TON of dust back there. So GW decided they might as well clean things good. She got the big, noisy, screaming dragon, scary, horrible, loud shop-vac noisy monster machine thing to suck up all the dust. Yipes!
They ended up vacuuming the entire first floor of the house, plus the steps and rugs. Did I say it was super extremely noisy? GW said that knocked about ten things off her "to-do list."
All that work because of one little birdie!
I would go NUTSO if a birdie came in here!
ReplyDeleteSo would I!!!
DeleteWhat wild fun! I wish you had the video recorder going.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to have a birdie inside your house, Chester! Mom remembers very well the couple of times that a bat got inside our house. She said that it was NOT fun!
ReplyDeleteWow! That sure was an action packed adventure to have a bird stuck in your house. We enjoyed watching that video too. Seeing Snoopy wrestle with the chair was cracking us up!
ReplyDeleteOH MY STARS Chester what a great report you have today.
ReplyDeletethank goodness most of the sparrows flew out and not into you Manor. Yikes that little guy was lucky he was caught and sent on his way by Dad and GW....an NOT BY the Ace Reporter in residence
Hugs Cecilia
Hello Chester. Good job that you did not eat birdie (I think I might have). Did you at least get a fevver in memory of all the excitement, it would be a special keepsake. Hope you're enjoying your autumn days, ours should arrive soon. Love your smiley face picture!
ReplyDeleteThat little birdie caused quite the stir, but we are glad he/she is OK. Our birdie Dylan almost escaped his cage when Mom was cleaning it yesterday but she has quick hands and foiled the attempt.

Yikes! That was an exciting adventure. I am happy it didn't end with you getting tangled in the wires behind the TV and pulling the whole thing down with a crash. Whew! That loud vacuum would've been nothing compared to the fuss that would have caused!
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
It's amazing what one little birdie can do!! BOL!

Chester! What an exciting adventure! We have had 3 of those in the last 2 weeks. Ours were 1 sparrow, a yellow finch and a quail. They we brought in by Jo Jo (though Kozmo actually brought in the yellow finch). The Quail pooped everywhere...Mom was very, very unhappy with the poop clean up duty! Us cats (and Cinnamon) hid from the sucky monster! Did you hide Chester, or did you bark at it?
ReplyDeleteWow, that was some crazy time at your den, Chester!
ReplyDeleteWe've had bats, starlings, hummingbirds, mice, and snakes in our den here, but no sparrows!!
Hi friend, Ojo here! Your Yard looks very lush, it must be that rain you had! Birds are problems. Of course you knew exactly where the bird went and had to follow it. And it sounds like you helped your people with their dust bunnies, too!
ReplyDeleteI am really good at catching birdies. I would have gotten it in no time at all!

I need to vacuum but not letting a little birdie come into the house. We did have a robin that flew into the family room window. He was okay though.
ReplyDeleteHi friend, Ojo here! Stopping by to say hi again and wish you some sunshine!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful Chester! You saved a little birdie and let your GW clean the house! Paws up!
