Oh Tennis Ball

Hello everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

As you might know, my ghostwriter had a right total knee replacement two weeks ago. She's doing OK. The staples were removed yesterday, and she's walking with only one crutch. Dad and I have been helping her a lot!

But, it's been pretty boring! So I thought I should present one of my Christmas classic posts.

I will now regale you with my rendition of "Oh Tennis Ball!"
(Sung to the tune of Oh Christmas Tree.)

Verse 1
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.

So round and fuzzy, green and bright. I love you morning, noon, and night.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.

Verse 2
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.

You're always bouncing down the stairs, and rolling under Daddy's chair.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, how can you do this to me?

Verse 3
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you drive me to distraction.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you drive me to distraction.

Cause I can never reach you where, you're hiding under Mommy's chair.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you drive me to distraction.

Verse 4
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, where ever do you wander?
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, where ever do you wander?

You're hiding under every chair, communing with the dirt and hair.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, where ever do you wander?

Verse 5
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, now you're not going anywhere.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, now you're not going anywhere.

I caught you and your brothers too, and now I'll keep an eye on you.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, now you're not going anywhere.

Verse 6
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.

I love to roll you down the stairs, and where you end up I don't care.
Oh tennis ball, oh tennis ball, you are my favorite plaything.

(Here we go again.)

In other news, it's been snowing almost all day here in WNY. Dad made a short trip to the post office and said the roads were terrible, and visibility very poor.

He and ghostwriter are glad they don't have to go anywhere else, and can stay home with me!

(Ghostwriter says I'm the best foot warmer!)

  1. We're glad to hear Ghostwriter is feeling well and making a good recovery. Your version of "Oh Tennis Ball" was great. It sure is frustrating when they wander under the furniture. Stay warm in the deep cold we're getting now.

  3. Chester I love that photo of you in verse 6. I will be humming this verse all day in my head
"I caught you and your brothers too, and now I'll keep an eye on you." It made me giggle.
Tell GW and Dad well done on the song and you my friend performed it so well with all the photos.
Sounds like GW has benefited from all the excellent Nursing

  5. Ah, Chester ... I know how you feel, this is a great song. I love my Wilson's just as much tho mine are all outdoors and not such a pretty bright green anymore. Some have been chewyed by lawn mowers and evil squirrels but still hold a place in my heart. I am hoping Santy Paws brings a fresh supply at Christmas. On another note: I hope your HuMom improves quickly; mine heard that "knees are worse to fix than hips", she had the hip thing last summer but now thinks the knee might be next! Oh, No! Is it true? Is the knee harder? Did you ever get a new dog knee? Or is yours OK the way it is? Well, I gotta go now ... going outside (no snow here) to search for a dirty grimey yucky Wilson ... sigh. Bye. Oh, have a happy great wonderful woofie Christmas! Your furriend, Dougie Dog

  17. I missed a couple of posts, but I am glad Ghostwriter is well on the mend. Did she have the wobbles as well? I did when I had my operation and it was like somebody was waving their hand an inch from my eyes all day long! I hope she didn't get them, they were annoying.

Love your song and I sang it all the way through!
    Happy 2020
