Saturday With Joey Dog

This is the Daily Bone and I'm your diligent doggie reporter Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel. Welcome!

I have just heard that I have an appointment at the vet to get my teeth cleaned. I also need to have an x-ray to see how my heart looks, since I've developed a murmur, and another x-ray to check out my backbone. Apparently it's a problem if my back legs keep slipping out from under me when I stand on the slippery floor. If that's not enough, there's a rumor going around that I am due for an ear cleaning too. I think I don't need all this stuff.

You see? I can stand up just fine in the back yard! Just saying.

My first story today is about my goofy associate Chester L. W. Spaniel who got himself tangled up in his blanket again! He can be such a dork sometimes.

But enough about him. Now it's time for my food report, and I have some very special things to show you. Ghostwriter went shopping to her favorite stores that Dad never goes to, and bought some excellent yum yums. Here we have German Stollen from Aldi's. These are rich cakes with marzipan and dried fruit, rolled in powdered sugar. They taste heavenly! Ghostwriter always buys several of these because they're only available at Christmas time.

She also bought an assortment of German cookies. Most have chocolate on them, so doggies cannot have them. But I know I will be getting a taste of the wafer cookies without the chocolate. Yum!

Next, ghostwriter went to the Namasté Indian Market where she picked up things like paneer makhani, dal masala curry, and rasogolla. It's time for Diwali so the clerk gave her a little box of special candies. She tasted one and said it was like marzipan flavored with rose water.

I happened to find an article about a Hindu holiday celebrated in Nepal in which they honor doggies. It's called kukur tihar. Below is a link to an interesting article with lots of pictures and links.

If you scroll down, you'll see a doggie who looks very much like our good spaniel friend, Bionic Ernie, from theadventuresofthetank  Maybe they're related!

During her travels this afternoon, ghostwriter spotted some Canada geese eating crab apples behind the Citizen's Bank.

These days there are silly geese flying everywhere but south.

It was very cold out today. We were lucky we didn't see any snow. As you know ghostwriter still doesn't believe winter is almost here. So I'll just use a bit of humor to kind of give her a hint.

The clouds look kind of wintry to me.

It's a good thing I have on my shaggy cocker spaniel coat.

And now we will have a moment of silence for the humans killed in yesterday's
terrorist attacks in Paris.

  1. The Aldi treats look GOOD. We will have to go check those out as Dad stops at Aldi every Thursday for Romaine for salads, breakfast cereals, coffee, Kefir, milk and cheap red wine for Mom.

  2. Those stollen are the best! Growlmy used to buy them for our furmily and as gifts...howevfur all food like that yummy fare is off the list of foodables they now eat...hence our Aldis gets to sell more to other peeps...sigh...
(They no longer eat processed food, most grains and esp sugar...pawppy has lost about 150 - 160 lbs, growlmy about 40 since doing a spawsial diet program, started in Aug 2014. Growlmy did the diet once, pawppy 4 times, and now we are in 'remain' phase...)

Aldis has gre at things you do not see inthe larger chain grocery stores, and the pricing is good...usually less:)
