Last Day Of Freedom (Oh, And Flowers Too)

Hello ladies and gentlemen, doggies and kitties. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your amiable doggie correspondent Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Ghostwriter had five whole days off this week, and today is the last one. She has to go back to work early tomorrow morning. Blah! We like when ghostwriter is home. She does photo sessions and gives us treats. Plus she lets my esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) and me go outside whenever we want so we can deal with the Evil Squirrel Cartel, the Conniving Chipmunk Consortium, and the Miscellaneous Mousie Mob. In fact, she comes with us to check in corners and under rocks, and then sometimes she blasts those dummy squirrels with the hose after we chase them up the tree.  Bwahahahahahahaha!

And she's not scared of beetles and wasps and spiders and worms and stuff.

Sometimes she takes pictures of flowers with wasps on them.

Sometimes she takes pictures of flowers without wasps.

Sometimes she finds spiders in weird places. This funnel spider has rolled up a lily-of-the-valley leaf to make her home. We doggies are sure the neighbors think our ghostwriter is a loony old lady who takes pictures of dead leaves or …

… sometimes helicopters flying by in the beautiful summer sky.

Here I am sniffing by the shed:

Ghostwriter will rearrange the entire wood pile just so I can look for mousies.

Joey and I are waiting by the back door for our doggie yum yum treats.

Not to say we don't like it when we have to stay home with Dad all day. Dad is usually the one who cooks delicious stuff like this piece of pepperoni pizza for lunch:

And this super yummy supper with steak, rice, fresh tomatoes, and corn-on-the-cob.

What are you making for dessert, Dad?

Sometimes we doggies have to stay inside when Dad gets out the roaring monster lawn chopper machine scary thing to mow the grass down to a uniform length. Look how nice and green our lawn is. It provides maximum squirrel and chipmunk visibility to enhance our surveillance missions.

Unlike ghostwriter who's always running in and out of the house, Dad tends to stay in one place for a long time, especially when he's working on his computer, or watching a movie. In fact, if it wasn't for Dad, we doggies would never get any naps!

But still, we like it best when everybody's home at the same time.

Good night!
