You Never Know What You'll Find

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your cute doggie host Chester L. W. Spaniel.

You might think it gets boring around here. We hardly ever go anywhere. That's because our humans are what you call home bodies. They can't think of any place they'd rather be than home, with us doggies of course. They're also science geeks and nature watchers. One of their favorite sayings is, "If you chase after nature, it will surely run away. But if you sit quietly and wait for it to come to you, it will." Indeed, every day we find a new surprise, and today was no exception.

This is a clear wing moth. It looked like a bumble bee and hovered like a hummingbird.

Here it is next to a much smaller bumblebee.

The wings looked like a blur!

It really liked the liatra flowers. We should grow some more next year!

We also finally saw some monarch butterflies on the milkweed plants. They didn't hang around for a photo session, though. Maybe in a few weeks, we'll have some caterpillars to look at! You never know what you'll find next!

  2. My pawrents don't like to do much either but putter around the house and garden. We're going to have to go see if we can find such wonderful things in our yard.

  5. We live with two homebodies too, Chester. But it isn't so bad. We get to go for nice walkies when it isn't so hot like today!!! And the cupboard is always full of tasty treats. We have some very entertaining critters that pass through or around our kingdom. And we just love being loved. Bet you and Joey feel the same way.
