High Wind Advisory

Greetings loyal readers and fellow doggies. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your earnest doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

There has been a high wind advisory in effect all day. Indeed the wind has been roaring and thundering through the trees non stop, and clouds have been zooming by at a rapid rate.

The good thing about it was that no squirrels have been spotted in our yard stealing birdie seeds from the feeders today. I imagine operatives of the Evil Squirrel Cartel are busy hanging onto their tree branches by their toe nails!

My esteemed colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel and I had a wonderful time running in the wind!
However, sometime between 5 and 6PM, a branch came crashing down onto the ground. Fortunately, Joey and I were not outside when it fell, and nobody was hurt. It was odd because the branch was not dead. It had leaves and seeds growing on it.

I marked it in case the evidence indicates misdoings by the Evil Squirrel Cartel.

Upon detailed inspection, though, my humans determined the branch had been weakened by some kind of insect damage that caused it to snap off in the high wind. They also identified a spot high up on the top of the silver maple tree from which the branch might have broken. Now how can we have predicted that? How can we protect ourselves and our humans from the perils of falling branches? We'd better take the entire tree down as soon as possible!

Chill out Chester! Branches are not going to crash down on your head every time you go out!

Well, I'm just going to head over to the other side of the yard just in case.
