Attention everyone! May I have your attention please. We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you this important news bulletin! This is The Daily Bone and we're your circumspect doggie investigators Special Agent Chester L. W. Spaniel and Special Agent Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel and we're going to take you live to the scene of the crime.
Warning to viewers with weak stomachs and small children: you might want to avert your eyes to what we're about to see. However, to doggies everywhere, this is an unprecedented find!
This evening at approximately 7PM we discovered an exploded birdie in our back yard!
Detailed doggie forensics analysis revealed that this was an adult robin, probably female. We have determined that it died around 6PM, as the remains were still fresh, and we had no desire to roll on it. Yet. Besides, we had been outside just 60 minutes prior, and it was not present then.
We have yet to verify the cause of death of this unfortunate robin, but our humans strongly suspect it was attacked by a hawk of some kind. Kestrels and other small hawks have been sighted in this area. The assailant most probably dropped down on the unsuspecting robin from the top branches of the silver maple tree. He or she then sat there and pulled all the feathers off the victim before carrying the body off for later consumption. There were also bits of flesh and entrails present, but we will not be showing this until the victim's family can be notified. We are fairly certain they reside in the nearby arborvitae bushes.
We were unable to continue our investigation because a thunder storm was fast approaching and we needed to seek shelter. Hopefully the rain will not degrade any evidence.
As you can see, Special Agent Joey dog is now meditating in order to clear his mind before we delve further into this heinous murder. Please stay tuned for further updates. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.
Addendum: Here's a mysterious sign in the sky that ghostwriter saw today:
Or maybe a hungry kitty.

I've heard of that. Robins eat so much that they go bang, internal .combuses. So I have heard, or it could have been combustion... I think it was something about about a bus. What ever, who ever it was. My sympathy to you guys having to investigate. Enjoy.
