Lake Effect

Good day everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.

In case you're wondering, ghostwriter has a day off today. So everything's OK here.

Other than that, it's been a boring day!

Yawn!

It's been very cold and windy. There were a lot of sticks on the frozen ground.

As you can see, we don't even have any snow!

We checked the weather map, and found this gigantic purple vortex. Yipes!

This was supposed to be posted on Thursday. But then ghostwriter got a call that her Oma had fallen down in her house, and bumped her head, and had to go to the hospital. Ghostwriter had to go to Niagara Falls NY to be with Oma for a couple days. Don't worry. She's all right now, and ghostwriter is home again.

So here's all the snow we ended up getting at my house while ghostwriter was gone:

Wow! A whole couple inches!

Sometimes the Lake Effect snow clouds from Lakes Erie and Ontario get pooped out by the time they get to us here in the Rochester NY area. Or sometimes the wind makes all the snow clouds move east, instead of south. To illustrate this, here's a picture that looks towards Lake Ontario. (This was the view from Oma's hospital room window! Wow!)

Do you see that line of puffy clouds on the horizon? They're directly above Lake Ontario. They chugged east all that day and never made it to my house.

Ghostwriter was glad about that because it meant she didn't have to drive in a blizzard!
We'll keep you posted on our dear Oma's health.

Oh, and ghostwriter said that if she squinted real hard out that hospital room window, she could see Toronto on the horizon. Hi Momo and Pinot!

  3. Gute Besserung zu Oma!

You have some weird weather up there. Purple and dark blue? We just have clouds and rain and sometimes snow, but never purple things in the sky...

  4. Your snow made it to our house, Chester, and we're hoping to have fun in it today after mom and dad do snow clean-up duty! We're happy to hear that Oma is okay.

  6. Poor Oma - we hope she is ok and doesn't fall again.

Mom says she remembers well the terrible drives she had from Western MA to Cornell Law School when Dad was a student there before they were married - she was terrified on I-90.

We got about the same amount of snow last Thursday, but we wish it could be more.

  7. Oh Chester we are so very sorry Oma fell. Mom received many calls like that about her peeps so she knows how scary and concerned GW was. Thank goodness she was able to make the trip w/o any terrible weather.
As for NC's weather...this is a total fluke. The weather man said by the time the deep freeze was over here we would have had 82 hours of below freezing temperatures. I'm thinking somebuddy picked up NC and moved it to your Lake and we got the effect..MOL I crack myself up.

Seriously this has been most unusual. We are hearing by Friday the temp will be close to 60.
So we are very hopeful we don't see any more of this mess for a while. Good news is they say a few days of frozen weather is good for killing germs and bugs so Yay cold!
    hugs madi your bfff
