This is a TDB news flash! I'm your miffed doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel.
Somebody ate our strawberries! Yesterday, they were almost ripe.
This morning, they were all gone except this little one with a bit taken out of it. And then later on, someone stole that too! Grrrrrrr!
I conducted a thorough search of the premises.
I'm pretty sure it was that stinky little chipmunk! I couldn't find him, though. So I went back inside to grumble about it in ghostwriter's office. But then, I heard an annoying sound like, "chuck, chuck, chuck, squawah, chuck chuck squawah." I immediately jumped up and looked out the window, and this is what I saw:
It was that rude squirrel, alias Twinkletoes, and he was making a racket!
A good barking sent him packing! "No sandwiches for you!"
Bark bark bark bark bark bark bark bark! |
Hey, wait a minute! I wonder how grilled squirrel stuffed with strawberries tastes?
Squirrels? Chipmunks? Rabbits? Whoever did it - shame on them - they were just such cute little berries. Hope you get a few more.

Um, I MEAN, SQUIRREL!!!! (or chipmunk, wabbit, whatevers...) I likes mine medium rare please, with a side of sweet potatoes! Oh, and I would likes a table by the window, so I can keep my eye out for seconds....

You did well my dear friend Chester. I'm surprised Twinkletoes would come back knowing you are on the lookout.

Prolly a cousin of your twinkletoes ate the buds off growlmy's dahlia plants...grrr! Can't they just eat the stuff that doesn't belong to others??
ReplyDeleteAnd worse yet, while I can smell it all around in the woodsy part of my yard...m=growlmy saw it...a woodchuck...OMD!!! Archenemy of yards, plants and produce. Hope he leaves our herbs and tomato plants alone. Those are close to the house, if he dares I shall give him a good scare...even in my wobbly state I am ferocious.
If you have a grilled squirrel, are you going to share?? I would love to sample that kind of fare.
We used to plant lots of beautiful sunflowers in the flower garden every year. But now the squirrels always cut the heads off. Crummy squirrels!
DeleteMmmmm....grilled squirrel with strawberries sounds totally nommy!!

Dear Chester,
ReplyDeleteGrilled squirrel with strawberries would be pawesome! (Ojo sneaks our strawberries when the people are not looking. Shh, don't tell. She puts her lips on them many times a day, testing, until they are perfect. Then - yum! They are gone.)

Joey dog here. Our old Charisma dog taught me how to pick the perfect tomato from the garden. She was a smart old girl!
