Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your exasperated doggie host
Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel.
This is a TDB fast breaking news alert! We're your dedicated doggie reporters Chester L. W. Spaniel, and Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel. The Daily Bone will be hosting an event in the Blogville Pawlympics on August 10, 2016. The challenge will be Ear Flapping!
This will be an event for, but not limited to, our long-eared breeds. Send a still photo of your doggie running or jumping with his or her ears flapping like the one below. You may also enter a photo of your doggie with his or her head hanging out the car window, or even sitting in the wind or in front of a fan. Anything that induces spectacular ear flappage!
Send your entries to: Christinersrn at gmail dot com by July 15.
Please note, we do not expect anyone to take off like Dumbo in the cartoon above, but we like to think about it for inspiration.
We now return to your regularly scheduled program already in progress:
Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel.
I finally got a picture of my favorite home cooked meal before I ate it all. Here is ground beef with potatoes, barley and vegetables. Doesn't it look delicious?
recipe:
1 pound of 80% lean ground beef
3 or 4 potatoes unpeeled and cut into chunks
1/2 cup carrots chopped
1/4 cup frozen peas
1/2 cup barley
Put first 4 ingredients in a big pot with enough water to cover, and place over high heat. Break up the ground beef with a metal spoon or spatula. When the whole thing comes to a boil, add the barley. Stir well. Reduce heat and let simmer, stirring occasionally, until barley is soft. Add more water if it seems dry. It makes enough for several meals depending on the size of your doggie.

We had a little lesson in food watching yesterday. I don't think my capricious associate Chester L. W. Spaniel will ever get it right! First, I'll demonstrate proper technique. You must sit or stand quietly, and stare soulfully up at the food and your human.
Enter Chester:
Sit still, doofus!
No! Don't stick your tongue out! That's rude!
Hey, now where are you going?
Oh, you're back. What did I tell you about sticking your tongue out?
OK. I give up!
