Last Day Of Summer

Greetings friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your quintessential doggie host
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

I know I haven't been posting very often lately. My ghostwriter has been working a lot. Plus, not much has been going on around here. It seems I totally missed Pirate Day.  We enjoyed reading our friends' posts, though.

Today is the last official day of summer. Tomorrow will be the Autumn Equinox. That means the day and night will be of equal length. After that the days will start to get shorter while the nights will get longer. We went outside to the back yard for a few photos in the summer sun.

Hey, the sun's in my eye!

That's better!

Now, how about giving me that treat you
have in your pocket.

Ghostwriter says she'll miss the hot summer days with the big puffy white clouds …

… and the brilliant sun …

… and occasional storms.

In other news, ghostwriter got a chance to visit with a doggie named Gracie. She was at the nursing home with her human. Gracie is learning how to be a therapy doggie. Look how big she's gotten!

The last time ghostwriter saw her, Gracie was just a little pup!

I heard that Gracie likes to play ball. I wonder if she could come over and play ball with me?

Well, it's getting late.

Perhaps we should just sit back and enjoy the last sunset of summer.

Good night.

I still miss Joey dog. (Photo from about one year ago.)

    1. Don't worry Princess. Gracie is probably plenty busy with her training schedule. It would be nice to have someone to play with since Joey is gone. Strictly platonic, though.

  11. Chester my handsome little friend this is a beautiful post. I just love how everything ties together and tells the best story. Ahhhh yes the first day of fall it is. Still cloudy here we have had remnants of Julia hanging around all week. But we needed the rain. We have 90's returning this weekend but it will probably be the last of them.
Gracie is a darling puppy with such a wonderful purpose in life.
I'm so sorry I didn't get to know your Joey better. I can tell by the pictures how much you loved him. Sending hugs...

  15. I think you live in a furry pretty place, Chester! Fall here brings warmer temps, after a furry cold and foggy summer. But this is my daddy's least favfurite day, because the sun will start going down sooner. No more beach walks after he gets home from work.

  16. Hi - so I think that all is running fine with you and your ghostwriter - fall is coming and the leave are changing brown, because of the last three month hot temperatures. That´s nature and we all hope that we can stay outside some longer weeks - running at the beach in Holland or at our large river the Rhine here some minutes away. Have a pretty weekend-
