We just have a brief note today here at The Daily Bone. We just realized it's been 30 years since the space shuttle Challenger disaster. Although Joey dog and I were not around for that, our human family remembers this day vividly.
They had all gone to a toy store in downtown Rochester to buy a wooden train set for son John's birthday which was coming up. Ghostwriter had set up the VCR—well, it was 1986— to tape a show, and instead recorded the entire Challenger explosion.
30 years ago today.
Can't believe it was 30 years ago

Thank you for remembering this. I remember it vividly. I was flying charter out of a little airport in California and flew this female attorney in a fancy twin engine airplane to Watsonville for a deposition. We walked into the little business there and it was on TV. Both of us just stood there and cried.

Mom was watching TV and couldn't believe she was seeing what she was seeing. It was devastating.
ReplyDeleteThat was a day our Mom says she remembers very clearly too. So sad for so many good people.

Hi hi hi! Ojo here! Chester, you are a philosopher Dog! Is the Ball half-dead, or half-alive? That is a very good question! I could settle that once and for all by eating it and making it all-dead, how about that?
ReplyDeletePee Ess Do not chew on the space shuttle.
But then, Ojo, it would come back and haunt you the next day! Yipes!
DeleteOh, and don't worry. The little space shuttle model lives on the shelf of the forbidden squeaky toys.
