Fall Came Thundering In

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel.

It has been a very warm, summery Fall this year so far. But as you might know, here in Western New York, if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute! Yesterday it was 80º and sunny all day. But then in the late afternoon, it suddenly got dark. Ghostwriter had just come in from walking around the yard a little (with her crutches, of course.) As soon as she got in the door, a big storm came whipping through. She tried to close the screen on the door, but got soaking wet within a couple seconds! It looked like a hurricane for a while!

We checked the weather charts and saw this:

A big cold front had moved in from the west across the Great Lakes and blasted over our area.

Since then it's been cold out. There's supposed to be a frost tonight.

Fortunately, my favorite miniature human Ryan had a lot of fun before the weather changed. He went to his first ever autocross. (His Dad used to drive in these.)

When he went home, he built an autocross course right in his own driveway!

Hooray!

He also went out to get his Halloween pumpkins.

Today it was very quiet here. Ghostwriter spent a lot of time resting her knee. She says her whole left leg feels like the muscles were put through a blender and then run over by a truck! A physical therapy person came to see her and show her how to do some more exercises and stretches to help her knee heal properly. She told her she would have to relearn how to walk properly after limping around on her gimpy knee for so long!

Hey, wait a minute! This is the second time some strangers came to my house now! Dad took me outside to play in the yard during those times, so I didn't get to bark at them!

But later, Dad grilled some lamb chops, and I got to try some. So all was not lost!

  3. That front came through Michigan too...on Sunday early morning. Pawppy was going to go to church, but he stayed home cause he did not want to get blown off the highway...
And the rain we had prior to that was awful...petcretary emptied about 5 inches from one day's rain alone, now there is three more in there. But now its nice and clear and chilly, but no frost in our forecast yet...just in the low 40's.

    Stay safe, dry and warm!
And tell ghostwriter to be carefur on those crutches. In-Home PT sounds wonderfur!

    1. Almost all of our weather in WNY comes in from the west. It crosses the Great Lakes and picks up even more rain or snow. Mostly this gets dumped on Buffalo, but some makes its way to the Rochester area. This storm had lots of high wind for us, but the heavy rain only lasted a short time. It's sunny and frosty this morning.

    1. We heard about Ophelia. How unusual for a hurricane to move that way! Hope things are ok there now.

  7. It sure was a frosty morning today wasn't it? We only had a few small branches down around us. It's good to hear that Ghostwriter is up and around. Make sure she does all her proper exercises so she heals quickly but don't let her over do it either.

  11. Your weather is like our weather, Chester! One second it's sunny and almost 90°F, and the next second the temp drops and you're dripping with rain. Well, anyway, we sure are glad the day ended with some lamb chops!

We also want to thank you for the good thoughts you sent for our pup Astrid! We also really appreciate that you shared your experience with your pup Charisma, as knowing that she did well after her toe amputation was very encouraging for us. Thank you again!

  13. That weather came through here too and it got chilly, which we loved. But the warm temps are coming back. At least it is cool at night so we might see some leaf color soon.

Tell Ghostwriter to follow the therapist instructions and do all that she can to get better.

  16. Sorry about your Mama's bad knee. It's no fun to have aches and pains. Maybe the lamb chops can make it all better, that would make us feel better!
