Greetings loyal readers. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your speedy doggie commentator
Chester L. W. Spaniel.
Today was an excellent day for running! There was a little snow on the ground and the sun was shining and it's crazy windy!
The cold weather makes the little birdies very hungry. Here are a few of the juncos who have been visiting our birdie feeder.
Sparrows have been around all day too.
The cardinal couple were eating seeds, when a squirrel decided to join in the feast.
Get lost squirrel!
We ran out of birdie seeds to put in the window box feeder, so ghostwriter put a crumbled up piece of bread in there. There are still the suet cakes on the sides of the window box, which the chickadees have been enjoying. But now look who came back!
Hi. |
Of course you know, there is never just one starling! Here they come!
I think there are about eight of them crammed inside!
Ghostwriter thinks they're rather handsome birdies with their speckled feathers.
But Mr. Seedcruncher, CEO of Sparrows Incorporated, was not very happy about the starlings eating up all the food. He called for a board meeting right then and there.
They sent me a memo and I was obliged to bark and scare the starlings away!
Bye bye again birdies!
I tell you: Mr Seedcruncher sure is a tough boss!
Before we go, I have a funny video to share.
Nap time!
Oh, and this just in! Ghostwriter saw a big hawk fly across our back yard. A few minutes later, she went outside to take a look at the sunset, and the hawk was sitting on a maple tree branch. Here's a picture, although it's not very good, that she managed to get before it flew away. Do you see it? It's on the lower branch just above the second car. She's pretty sure it's a Cooper's hawk.
Here's that sunset, by the way:
NOW it's sleepy time!
Looks like all those birdies pooped you boys right out!
