Monday Evening News

Greetings everyone. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your sincere doggie reporter
Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

We have a lot to report today. First of all, it's my venerable colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel's birthday. He is now 14 years old! Wow! He's in pretty good health for a geriatric doggie, although sometimes his legs give out under him for no apparent reason. He has a few cocker lumps and bumps and a bit of a heart murmur, but otherwise he's OK.

I am NOT geriatric! 

Our good friend Mr. Jack Freckles sent him a wonderful, beautiful card! Thank you so much MJF, kitties Pipo and Minko, and Growlmy and Pawpy!

In other news, this weekend it was bitterly cold out! Saturday it was -10ºF! We made sure to fill up the birdie feeders! Here are a few of our feeder visitors: 

Chickadee.

Gold finch in winter feathers.

Cardinal.

We also saw some juncos, sparrows, downy woodpeckers, and brown creepers. The robins have gone into hiding, and the starlings were no where to be found. There was only one squirrel who ran away as soon as I looked out the window! 

We're sorry we didn't get to make our annual Valentine's Day chocolate warning, but we think most of you out there are aware that chocolate is a deadly poison for us doggies. We're sure you'll be extra careful with those Valentine's candies.

NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH NEWS FLASH 

We are under a winter storm watch! 

It's supposed to start snowing by 7PM and keep up for 24 hours! 

We're live and on location in our back yard, where it's rather gray and dismal. There is no wind and the temperatures have been hovering in the mid-twenties.  

We don't see any snow falling yet. Forgive us if we're a bit skeptical. We've had lots of storm warnings only to have it move south of us or else fizzle out before it reaches us.

Nevertheless, we'll keep a close eye out for snowflakes!

If we get any, you'll hear about it first on The Daily Bone!

Meanwhile, Joey dog had a look at the supplies Dad brought home today to keep us from starving to death during this storm, if it actually gets here. 

Yum!

This just in too! (Wow! It's a busy night for news!) 

We just received a quick update from our North Carolina correspondent Angus B. Terrier 

about his on-going "Spring Watch" project: 

No signs of Spring today! We have freezing rain! My humans put my super duper glow in the dark jacket on me to keep me warm and visible. I don't like it very much. The squirrels laugh at me. Signed, your humble associate Angus B. Terrier. 

Sorry to hear about that, Angus. But better safe than sorry!

Back at The Daily Bone, we doggies are going to rest up for now so we can report on the storm later if it actually gets here. As of 8PM, it's passing to our south. Please stay tuned.
