Giant Stick

We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you this TDB News Flash. I'm your reliable doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel on location in our back yard where I have an update on our giant stick pile story. No, I'm not in the slammer. I'm waiting here because Dad got out the screaming dragon scary buzz saw machine monster thing and we doggies are staying well out of the way of it.

See? Here he is in the middle of the lilac bush cutting off the big dead branches. Don't worry. He didn't do it for very long. Soon he was down to clearing out the little dead branches with a normal, quiet, hand held clipper.

After all was done, we had the biggest, most gigantic, long, and bendy stick! As you can see, my timid associate Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel is still hiding at the other side of the yard in case Dad gets out the noisy cutting power saw thing again. He always says one can never be too cautious around humans with power tools.

If any of you doggies out there would like to purchase this premium quality stick, for the low, low price of two doggie yum yum treats, please let us know. It has all kinds of cool features like peeling bark, lichen growing on it, birdie poop, and holes made by carpenter bees. It is indeed an excellent stick. But you'll have to hurry. Dad is threatening to get out the undisputed king of all screaming dragon noisy frightful stick grinding machines, and turning this stick into a pile of mulch.

Oh, and by the way, if you happened to notice the iris blooming at the left side of the photo above, ghostwriter would like to point out that it is her favorite one: code named Hello Darkness. These were thankfully, spared from the iris borer grubs things. Here's a close-up of it.

She's hoping the weather stays mild so she can continue to take photos of it and insert them into all my news casts.

Whatever.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled program already in progress.

  8. What a big stick! Pawsome, too! Did the woodpeckers drill holes in it too??
We lost a large snag (dead tree trunk) s a recent storm and growlmy saw that it was loaded with a lot of holes, likely done by the local pileated woodpeckers, because there are none others here that could make such large drillings, OMD!

I had a good sniff of each of those little caves in the tree trunk. Now growlmy has to figure out how to get it out of the yard...its crossways ovfur another tree. Might need to get an unfurbro to assist...

My own huge pile of sticks is gone...I wonder how long it will take to grow as big as it was? BOL!

    Beautiful Iris!
