Flower Friday

Hello. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your innocent doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. And NO, I didn't trample the poppies! 

As you can see, I walked very carefully behind them! 

Those dark purple irises? The wind and rain knocked them down. But I see ghostwriter managed to prop them up with a stick.

The peonies are in the front yard, and out of my jurisdiction. If they fall over, it won't be my fault. 

So I can truly say I haven't flattened any flowers … lately.

Vet Visit

Greetings! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your dedicated doggie reporter Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

Yesterday, ghostwriter went to work at 3pm for an evening shift (3-11:30pm.) Right away they told her there was no night shift nurse (11pm to 7:30am.) Arghhh! Everyone expected her to be the one to break down and volunteer to do yet another double overnight shift. But this time she said NO! (Those overnight shifts mess her up for three days afterwards!) It was somebody else's turn this time! Hooray!  

Besides, she had to take my erudite colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel to the vet today.

He's back up to a normal weight. The lymph glands around his neck and throat area are still a bit swollen, but there are no swollen ones anywhere else in his body. He got a shot, and a blood test, and his ears cleaned out real good. He does have a heart murmur that's getting slightly worse, but he has no symptoms or coughing. The vet said he's doing pretty well for an old guy!

I am NOT old!

He also got to eat just about all the liver treats in the place!

Hey! He didn't bring any treats home for me!

Cows!

Hello friends and fans! This is The Daily Bone and I'm your jocular doggie reporter 

Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

Ghostwriter had to go to work for a meeting today. On her way home she saw a big herd of dairy cows in a field close to the road. Today, she actually had time to stop and take a few pictures for The Daily Bone!

Wow! What a big herd! I wish I could go and visit them all. I wonder what their names are? I wonder if they would give me an exclusive interview? I wonder what they think about all that politics stuff the humans are all worked up about lately? I wonder what they think about our crazy weather today?

Ghostwriter said some of them were running! I love to run!

Here I go! Running in the sun!

Yup! There he goes!

I wonder if I should tell him what we're having for dinner tonight?

Come to think of it, lunch was brought to us by those cows too!

Sticks And Food And Trucks Too!

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your steadfast doggie reporter 

Chester L. W. Spaniel. 

As you can see, I've got a big stick! In fact, I've got lots and lots of sticks that ghostwriter and Dad have trimmed off the trees and bushes. 

I've been watching as Dad cut down even more sticks, and ghostwriter trimmed them into smaller sizes. Why they do this every year about this time, is a mystery to me. But if any of you doggies out there want some sticks, please feel free to come over and take them.

Some are big, and some are little. Some have carpenter bee holes in them and peeling bark. 

But you'd better hurry! Pretty soon Dad is going to get out the screaming dragon noisy obnoxious scary machine monster stick grinder thing, and make mulch out of these sticks. I'll be sure to keep you posted on this. 

And now we're going to have the food report from my esteemed and elderly colleague Joseph (Joey dog) Spaniel. 

I am NOT elderly!

Hello food fans! Our ghostwriter worked all weekend, so we didn't get to do my Saturday food report. So I'm going to present it now. The humans have been cooking some simple comfort food meals lately. First we have chicken tenders with mac and cheese and steamed vegetables. Yum!

Next, spaghetti and meatballs with steamed vegetables. Love those brussel's sprouts! 

Today they had enchiladas with Spanish rice for lunch. It was a frozen dinner they got from the Schwann's truck. It looked kind of boring, but it was actually quite good. 

Best of all, today ghostwriter made a big pot of chicken and rice soup with carrots and peas, with no salt or seasonings or onions or yucky celery! She made it just for me! She left on all the skin and joints too, exactly the parts I like the most!

Oh, excuse me. I almost forgot to take a picture before I ate it all up! 

And don't let Chester's pity face fool you. He got a little bowl of the soup too. He snarfed it up so fast that now he thinks he didn't get any and that I should share mine with him! 

There's plenty of kibble if you're still hungry, Chester! 

Now I'm going out to lounge in the dappled shade of my pear tree. 

Oh, we almost forgot! We have a great report from our North Carolina associate Angus B. Terrier! 

Hi guys!

There's some construction going on across the street from my house. Apparently more houses will be built there. So I took the time to photograph some of the big trucks there to show our favorite miniature human, Ryan. As we all know, Ryan loves trucks!

These trucks knocked down all the trees and flattened the ground so that a house can be built on it. 

Those trucks made a lot of noise and dust. So now, I'd better take a nap! 

Actually, taking a nap is not a bad idea! Good night everyone!

Flowers

Hello everybody. This is The Daily Bone and I'm your cheerful doggie reporter 

Chester L. W. Spaniel.

Ghostwriter was away for the last two days. She had to go to see our dear Oma and take her to the hospital for some tests. Don't worry. Oma is OK.

Since it's Friday, here are some of the flowers blooming in our yard.

Iris burgundy.

Iris white.

Iris blue.

Tradescantia.

Peony buds.

Personally, I will never understand what's so great about flowers. They get in the way of my sniffing for chipmunks!
